Check Door Compatibility Before Purchasing
- Do you have bi-fold doors?(The child proof cabinet locks will only work with bi-fold doors. It will not work with other types of doors.)
- Is your door thickness between 1 1/8" and 1 3/8"?(Please measure the thickness of your doors to ensure compatibility.)
- Is your door made of wood?(This closet door lock is not suitable for metal doors.)
- Is the top hinge at least 2 ½" from the top of the door?(If the top hinge is too high, the bi-fold lock may not slide side to side properly.)
- Are the tops of the two panels aligned?(If one panel is higher than the other, the lock may not slide smoothly.)
- When you open the doors, is there at least ¼" clearance between the top edge of the doors and the door frame?(Adequate clearance is necessary for the bi-fold doors to open and close smoothly.)

I wish I knew about this sooner. It’s so easy to lock and unlock the folding door. Operates from both sides of the door. Installation is easy. No tools. No mess. No glue. I bought the white which matches perfectly with the door.

Best bi folding lock I've used. So easy to slide from either side to open and close. Nothing to unscrew to open as some cheaper plastic ones have been. These are metal. Cats definitely can not open the doors underneath now.

Overall, this will do what you want. It's sturdy, made of metal so it won't crack like plastic, and works well with doors that are 1 1/8 - 1 1/4 inches wide. The Amazon ad and the instructions themselves mention an "insert" you can use for thinner doors. I bought three of these and none came with any insert. I had to fashion my own out of high-density foam. Overall, a good product, but lost a star over the missing inserts.

I previously tried the locks that stick onto the door and clip one side to the other, but the adhesive was weak and pulled off by others in my household. This is sturdy, fully made of metal, does not damage the door, and works perfectly. It's so easy to slide it in place to lock, or to unlock. Little ones cannot reach it, which was my main goal. I'm ordering another one to put on another closet door. The white color also blends in well with my doors. Great product!
