Many cheap grill lighter brands work a few times and must be thrown away because they will no longer light. BIC lighters are a little more expensive, but they last until they are out of fuel, and your money goes further. BIC childlock is better designed than other lighters and is child-resistant, not adult-resistant.

These are great lighters to have on hand. In winter I use one to light the fireplace. In summer I use one to light the BBQ. Occasionally, my gas stovetop burner needs a little help, so I use one of these lighters to light it. These lighters would also be handy to have for camping.

I have used these around the house for quite some time and find them handy, well-built (not fragile), and easy to light. It does take a little pressure (first with the thumb to release the gas, then with the index finger to pull the ignition trigger), but this also keeps the lighter from easily discharging the gas when you don't intend (such as when you store it in a drawer with every other quick-grab implement). The handle is not stick-thin, like some lighters I've used in the past. A thin handle also makes starting the lighter more difficult. There is a view window to check the level of fluid in the lighter. The flame is over an inch long (good pressure) on this BiC. Some generic lighters barely manage half that. There is also a metal clip that pivots from the base of the grip that allows the lighter to easily hang from a hook or nail, keeping it handy by the grill or wherever you might need to suspend it.I don't usually see a review as the best place to comment on a vendor, but I think it may help prospective purchasers for me to do so here. I recently ordered this four pack for holiday candle lighting. I was disappointed to receive four loose lighters that were placed in a bubble pack by Las Vegas World Famous Brand Center. This does not match the description (picture or words) of the product beyond "4 lighter" (sic). While the vendor may have saved money by sending a part of a bulk package (as I have no other explanation for the lack of commercial packaging), either the savings or a notice of this being a bulk product could have been passed on to the potential buyer. The lack of packaging makes storing a pair (as I had planned) a little more problematic since the packaging virtually prevents the accidental discharge of the lighters. I need the lighters for an imminent holiday candle lighting so I won't have time to return them--but I would not quickly trust this vendor again.
