The open-back design is something I typically veer away from, but Beyerdynamic nailed it with these headphones. It gives the surround sound you're looking for from open-back headphones without allowing too much sound to escape and become a distraction for people nearby. A warning for people looking to get the most out of this headset, ensure that your amplifier has sufficient power to supply to this power hungry headphone.

The “stock” DT 990 pros come with a coiled cable, whereas my refurb ones came with a straight cable. All honesty, I consider this an upgrade as I dislike coil cables. The sound quality is good, with the signature boost in 8khz range to hear sibilance in a mix. For causal listening, the treble can be a little harsh, but in a mixing situation these headphones are so handy when mixing vocals and symbols.

its average honestly i have owned over 40 headphones i have tried everything form high dollar to cheap as the same sould quality as a Rig headset, But the RIG is cheaper works with different consoles and has a decent mic, If you are looking for just sould then you can go cheaper but the overall i would still recommend this because even with the sould quality being just kind of mind from what i have experienced, It is comfortable for longer usage.

My AKG K99 run out after fourteen years, so that Beyerdynamic DT990 are an improvement. They are very comfortable, light and well constructed. Sounds very balanced, with beautiful sharp highs, great mids and solid round bass frequencies. Have no overwhelming feeling after long periods of use. Still don't work in mixing with them, but I'm sure they provide me great solutions in that critical function. If you need balanced quality sound and confort,DT's 990 are an excellent choice.

I wanted to clear a few things up on these. Firstly I wanted to say that I got the 250 ohm version and I love them. People say a lot of good and bad. I got mine renewed and saved money so I couldn’t hesitate on the deal. If you’re just gonna get these and plug them into your Xbox or without an amp and you can’t afford one yet then buy something else or wait until you can afford it because a amp will make these come alive. The sounds are next level even on the lower settings. If you’re not all the way blasted up with your gain set to max and sniper mode on your amp they don’t really “leak” sound as bad as you would think. Once you do turn them up they are super load and will but I personally don’t see anyone being able to do that comfortably for hours on end it’s loud and any game doesn’t need to be that loud to hear a dang footstep. You can hear way more on the lower settings just fine trust me. These are the most comfort in a pair of headphones I’ve ever experienced. The open back is where it’s at. If you have all the money in the world then I would say get a pair with a detachable cable with a solid amp but you honestly don’t need all that for something to feel premium. Just be carful with them and they will last. I paired these with the sound blaster g5 the older cheaper model and they are just amazing. I will never and I mean never buy “gaming” headsets again. I use a blue yeti usb mic but there are other options out there if you need a mic for cheaper. I know there was a lot of “ninja” hype around these but they live up to it. He used them for a reason because they sound amazing. So in my option with the renewed model plus a cheap amp you can’t buy a better pair of headphones for around 200 dollars. I had the newest Corsair wireless gaming headphones and just wasn’t happy so I returned them and tried this. The best thing about amazon is if you’re not in love with what you got you can return it and buy something you will be happy with. Be true to your self with what you have and don’t be afraid to return something if you’re truly not happy with the product but I know you will love these as much as I do and plenty other do. Either this setup or something similar from a real audio company you can not go wrong. P.S. the amp I mentioned before works with Xbox, ps4 and pc. I’m gaming on pc just for reference. Do your research on what you’re buying. To wrap this up I just want to say these are worth the price though and through compared to gaming headphones.
