I've been a raw & tumbled gemstone collector/rockhound for many years(since early childhood) only recently did I start wanting to get into faceted gems. Well this is my first "bulk" purchase and I was skeptical because of some reviews so I didn't get my hopes up for anything spectacular. Well, my expectations were beyond exceeded with this purchase. The price is excellent for what I received. The quality of just a few of the gems make the entire purchase more than worth it. There are alot of amethyst and garnets, which is fine with me as I do love them. There were also 3 green onyx,1 black onyx, 2 smokey topaz, 1 clear topaz, 1 blue topaz, & several yellow topaz. Several different shapes & cuts on these. Some of them do have inclusions which to me is actually a beautiful thing as they sometimes create a rainbow flash which is brilliant! Ratio of sizes from small to large is about an even 50:50! In all honesty, I do wish there was a little bit variety on the stones I received but for the price you can't beat it for anything else!! I will definitely be making more purchases from this vendor! So if you're iffy on buying this or any other amount of faceted gems from Beverly Oaks llc, the worst you've got to lose is time because you are covered with buyers protection with amazon! I highly suggest this vendor!! So if you're curious make the purchase & see what treasure you get ツ I'm very happy with my purchase & will definitely be coming back for more hopefully there's just a little more variety next time lol ツ

I bought these because I read from other buyers that they felt like a pirate when opening the package.......it came in 2 small ''lip balm'' like cases, so in all honesty I felt more like a princess when I opened my package :(But to be more serious, I bought these as a present to my mom so she could practice her jeweller skill as a hobby and I am very satisfied with my order.

I've been making a lot of jewelry lately and I happened upon this listing as I was searching Amazon for related jewelry-making supplies. I went ahead and placed an order just to see what I would get.It is my understanding that the assortment is random, that they just scoop out of a bin. I received 56 stones total. There were three of the green ones you see in the photo, none of the orange, and maybe two of the blue (aquamarine or blue topaz?). Mostly I got amethyst, garnet, and the yellow stones (citrine or yellow topaz?). The garnet ones did not have as much depth as some of the others and were generally small. My largest ones were amethyst, green (no idea what that one is), and yellow. I got pretty much every shape, from square and round and pear-shaped cuts to rectangular cuts, ovals, and marquise. The stones ranged in size for me from 1.5 mm to maybe 8 or 9 mm, with a fair number (at least 1/4 to 1/3) having one dimension of at least 5 mm. Most looked lovely upon first inspection; you could see flaws in a few of the larger ones with the naked eye. (I don't have a jeweler's loupe.)Do be prepared to get a small amount (or know what 100 carats means...). Mine would probably fit into a heaping tablespoon.Overall, I am happy. There are enough of these to play with and try a few things, and after shopping for beads and cabochons all year, I know how much semiprecious stones can cost, so I feel like I got a good deal here.

After reading other reviews, I expected there to be a lot more smaller stones in the mix. There were about 8 stones 4-5 mm, the rest were at least a carat, or more, estimated, I don't have a jewelers scale. There was a very nice, dark amethyst 9 x 12 mm rectangular cut (not emerald, there weren't enough facets under the girdle for that). The mix was heavy on amethyst, which is fine, as that's a personal fave. But there were also emeralds cloudy, to be sure, but clear emeralds are rare, and not to be expected in a purchase like this. There was also smoky quartz, including a 6 mm table cut, which I had to look up, having never seen before. Other stones included peridot, citrine, garnet, and a few very pale blue stones which I can't tell were aquamarine or blue topaz, but even professional jewelers can have trouble with that. Also a nice variation of cuts: round, oval, pear, cushion. As other reviewers have noted, the stones aren't perfect, and a few of the cuts can be a bit off, but again, perfection is not to be expected. I'll be buying more from this source.

I'm not a geologist, gemologist, or jeweler. I honestly just bought these because I like shiny, pretty things. There are a small handful that have flaws that really interrupt the lines of the cut, but there are a few more where the flaws honestly just add to them and make them more interesting. For every bad stone there's another with a great cut, size and clarity to counter it. It says in the description that this is a random scoop so your mileage will definitely vary; yours may be better or worse but I still feel there will be enough large gorgeous stones that you will get more than your money's worth. Small garnets seem over-represented but there's enough big, beautiful tourmalines (that's my best guess) to make up for it. I love playing with these at my desk because I'm a fidgeter, but I have artsy-crafty friends that I think would love some of these stones for their projects as well. To my untrained eye, if you're a jeweler, about 1/5 of these by number (but more like 1/3 by weight) could be central pieces, and 2/3 could be accent pieces.
