I was really excited about this product until I tried to install it. Lost three screws trying just to tighten the shell with the bar because the screws are way too small and for that they do not stabilize the product at all. I'm the whole set up for stabilizing didn't work. This have been a great product if the assembly was easier and the product stayed up as it should. I tried it I'm the bathroom over head and forget it.I want a refund.

Pretty happy with this. It's a heavy gauge wire. It allows you to tighten it whenever you put it out so that you line stays taught. I use it weekly and am pleased.

I really like this item because it is all metal and I have greater trust in its longevity.

Was easy to install, and even came with diagram for marking of screws. I predrilled the holes and installation was a breeze. The metal line is strong and supports the weight of wet articles. Would definitely buy again.

I am pleasantly surprised as to the quality of this item. I chuckled at the cheesy little screwdriver that is in the package but I soon realized it is needed to install the small set screw. I installed it in about 5 minutes. Well built. I will see how it holds up. I would buy it again.

Lost tension after a few uses and even trying the recoil to tighten doesn’t tighten as well. For the price it gets the job done would look at another item for repurchase.

I needed something to hang over my kitchen sink to help dry wet dish cloths and scrubbies after doing the dishes/clean up. This unit fits my needs very nicely. The main receptacle and the opposite holder are metallic and the line itself is fine wire rope and is sturdy enough for my needs. I only need it to span a 38 inch distance, but the line stays nice and taut with 3 or 4 wet items hanging. I cannot affirm how it would do with a much larger distance and heavier items (like wet adult clothes), but the locking mechanism and wire quality seem well made and suggest it will work well if not over-burdened. Installation was easy, with templates for drilling a couple pilot holes on each end and straight forward attachment of the brackets. Easy to extend and retract the line with a twist lock to keep it taut. Well worth 5 stars as it is good value for the money and for my intended use.

worked mostly fine. sags a bit if significant weight. Main problem: to stop the line from retracting, you tighten the threaded dial around the base of the line. But this action, even over modest use (once a week), eventually damages the wire, which begins to unravel, making it increasingly hard to retract the decaying wire back into the base. Eventually the wire broke. I would wager to say this is a design flaw (at least if you want it to last a long time). Not sure what to replace it with: a nylon rather than metal line?

I replace this one with an older unit that I broke (I shook at pair of jeans sharply and the legs hit the wire and snapped the wire). I love having this close-line inside the house to hang snow gear on and much more. Can't say for this exact unit (this exact purchase - I think is the same model that I had for 5 plus years - family of 4) but the other one, I had up to 3 wet snow suits hanging on it without trouble. White doesn't stand out as much on the wall when not in use so that makes it nice since my utility room is seen by practically everyone who comes to visit. If I hang sweaters I do get a bit of a 'line' mark on the clothing that I didn't get from the cable (original purchase was .. in 2010) but dry is dry and I learned to hang at seam line or rotate as it dries quickly). I used the old wall hanging unit software so it was fairly easier to install but you do have a be a magician to see inside the unit to find the tiny hole for the screw to fit into to hold it on But once you have the patience to achieve greatness, you will be very happy to have this drying line. I've used it for swimsuits, bras, sweaters, wet towels, and wet snowsuits. Watch the line tension (sagging with heaving wet stuff), watch the hanging drying line on sweaters or clothes you do't want a mark, but all in all, I highly recommend. Mine in is the utility room just off the garage. But I can see this unit being in a bathroom, garage, storage unit, or elsewhere. For the price I love it. I looked into 'racks' or other units for the utility room but I stuck with this. the space allowed for drying and when it is open or retracted doesn't take up much space. I can't imagine I'd go with anything else unless the screw up the design or make the gable any smaller to make the 'drying lines' any worse.

Love this little gadget. Bought it for my conservatory and fitted it between 2 wooden beams to hang clothes on hangers to dry, making use of the free heat. This line is strong and easily holds up to 10 hangers in the space I have fitted it but could do more. Highly recommend. When not in use I simply let it wind the cable back and no-one knows its there.

Clothes don't dry as nicely hanging inside but we aren't allowed to hang clothesline outside where I live so I needed an indoor drying solution better than those clumsy large drying racks. This retractable line works great! It was installed in minutes across our bathtub. Setup was simple and directions were provided but not really needed. They include a little screwdriver but I'd recommend using a drill to make the holes quicker and neater. Strying across our tub, I can only fit about 5 items of clothing. Since I only needed this to dry items not recomended for the dryer, this works fine for a few articles of clothing (like my lularoe & shrinkable rayon) But I would not recommend this if you plan to hang dry entire loads of laundry. Its simple enough to turn the knob and lock the line so it won't droop too much. I did notice after I removed the clothes, there were dips or kinks in the line. They came out as soon as I hit the release and it pulled back in. I'm not sure if this will become a problem later with more use. I will update if the kinks become worse over time. I love that this line retracts so its out of the way when I dont need it. For my uses, its a perfectly compact system to dry a few drip dry items and save them from ruin in the dryer. Be careful when you unlock to retract this because it really flat back quickly so you'll want to move your fingers!
