I am so happy to have discovered this nice access panel. From now on, having this access panel will prevent having to tear apart the drywall to change or repair the shower plumbing.I'm in the process of updating the bathroom. I will be adding beadboard wainscoting to the walls, so I needed to figure out a way to create access to the shower plumbing to prevent tearing apart the wainscoting when a shower plumbing repair was required. This is a well-made access panel door. Easy open and close. The access panel is a bit pricey, but in the long run, it will save money, time, and frustration. This panel would be easiest to install for new construction. It will be fairly simple in my application as well since I'm installing beadboard wainscoting on the walls. The only thing I will need to install is a couple of pieces of 2x4 on the backside to make sure the panel is securely mounted.

There are plenty of cheesy access panel solutions out there, but if you're looking at this one it's probably because you need something better. This is it. My drywall guy assures me this will mud in to near invisibility. When we repiped the house I wanted access panels installed for all the hard to get to plumbing. In most spots that meant an access panel in the back of a closet or some other out of the way situation. For one of the spots it was either going to be in full view or have to be skipped. I was very happy to find this access panel. It's innocuous. The edges are like all the other drywall hardware. It can be screwed in place and blended into even a perfectly smooth wall.I don't know why, because it says it has "removeable 5/8 drywall inlay" but I didn't expect the package to come with the center piece of drywall already installed. This means that if you had to hastily drill/cut into a spot that you don't have to worry about messing up the center area. Just cut a clean hole for the assembly. The panel opens and closes with a "push to open" and "push to close" style. It's clicky and easy to use. There's tether for the inset piece. I'll use it, but when I go to access the plumbing I'll unclip the included steel cable and carabiner. They pieces are all welded together. There are no sharp edges except the mud flange. It's a class act all around for your cosmetically sensitive installs.

The arrived a couple of days after the promised date, but in good condition. It is built well and would have worked in our installation had I measured correctly. I had to return it as it was too large for the opening that was available. Note that it is as depicted, perfect for remodels and would finish well for any drywall surface.

I ordered 3 for my renovation, all 3 are flimsy, uneven, huge gaps and overall super cheaply made. My contractors said this should cost $20 Not $170 for its quality. Returned and found better option for 1/3 the price.
