I have been using FireLine in place of braid for several years now. I haven't noticed much difference on spinning tackle, but, on bait casting I don't seem to have as many birds nests and if I do get one FireLine is easier to untangle. I fish mainly fresh water structure and have been pleased with the abrasion resistance and knot strength. Most knots you would use on mono work just fine.
