So a while back I was using a 2013 Mac pro with a very old sony KDL55W900A TV to render videos. After 14 years the TV died and so it was time to upgrade to the 4K era. I picked up a Bravia 7 and when I got it home I had completely forgotten that the 2013 pro was only HDMI 1.4 compliment. Well it has thunderbolt 2s on the back that can do 4k at 60hz easily. Not wanting my desktop to look like a slide show I picked up this adapter. It's working great. I have everything running through thunderbolt 2 and it's nice. There's no hit to the picture quality and the audio is the same as it's always been. The adapter has a pretty good construction quality to it. The only thing that may worry some is how tight the fit is and how much heat it generates. It's not going to burn your hand but it IS just as warm as a standard thunderbolt 2 plug. Time will tell how long it lasts.Update: About an hour after I posted this review the adapter died. It started flashing horizontal lines across the screen. I decided to return it. A word of advice: If you are running a 2013 Mac pro on a very large TV and you want to use scaling options. Just use SwitchRezX. It allows you to just select the proper resolution and refresh rate on a software level. No delay or goofy handoffs. Just select and go. I'm using a 55 inch 4k TV scaled to 720p for my vision problems. It works. This adapter is only really there if 4k 60hz is a must.

Used to extend my MacBook Air display to a tv for a 2nd screen. My husband uses it for watching football film as a football coach. Cord is short but still works well with our setup.
