About this item

  • These handy double squares are indispensable for setting up machinery and for performing a host of shop layout tasks.
  • They are manufactured in accordance with EEC Class 1 accuracy standards and are guaranteed to be square to within 0.002 (two thousandths of an inch) over the length of each blade.
  • They have hardened and tempered no-glare satin chrome stainless steel blades. Blade marking are precision photo etched and then black filled for easy readability. Blades have quick reading graduation markings with 1/8th and 1/16th on both sides.
  • Traditionally, the most common graduation markings used by woodworkers are 4R, or 1/8ths and 1/16ths on one side and 1/32nds and 1/64ths on the reverse. The fact is most woodworkers never use the finer 1/32nd and 1/64th markings as they are hard to read, too precise for most tasks, and just plain confusing, So, we had these squares made with the most commonly used 1/8th and 1/16th graduation marks on both sides.
  • Square heads are cast and then precision machined. Square head color is Square heads lock down tight via locking knob.
  • Specifications: Blade width: 0.728” +/- 0.01” ; Blade thickness: 0.078” +/- 0.008”; Blade groove: 0.86” wide and 0.03” deep; Graduations: Woodworking Grads (1/8, 1/16); Head thickness: 0.472”; +/- 0.02”; Head width: 0.084” +/- 0.02”; Head height: 2.36” +/- 0.02”

Thank you for making this tool. I love that it does not have 1/32 or 1/64 graduations. I can visually interpolate 32nds more easily from sixteenths than by squinting and counting 1/32 graduations. I also love that the scales on all four edges are in english units. I love metric but it's a pointless hassle to have a mix of english and metric on the same tool. I'll use a separate metric tool if I'm working in metric units. My wish is that this tool were machined better. I'd like it to feel better. The ruler feels rough sliding through the square. The lock knob doesn't have a satisfying grab that tells me it's going to stay tight. It's not just Starrett tools that feel superior. I have an inexpensive Swanson 6" combination square that costs less and is machined better. It feels satisfying to operate. The Swanson has the opposite problem: the scales on only its four edges are usable; of the other two, one has nuisance 1/32 graduations and the other is a metric scale.

Not the sellers fault but the manufactured thumb screw bottoms out and doesn’t properly hold the rule tight. Great product, I think I just received a bad one. True to square- dead on, fit and finish- very good. I will buy a larger size even based on my minor hiccup.

I bought this slide square for accuracy. Hard to read and the slide will NOT lock. For the price I could have and should have bought something else. The locking wheel is setup in a way that I couldn’t get my channel locks on it to lock it. I hope people read this and head my warning

I have a couple combination squares, but I will be using this double square most . The measurement are all in inches with 1/8" and 1/16" increments, perfect

Ok, this square has a 6” blade (strong 3/4” wide), but the stock is the size of most 4” double squares!I checked it against a Starrett combo square and the Benchmark is accurate. The blade has markings etched, though not very deep (you can barely feel with a fingernail). It will do what I bought it for without risking one of my Starretts. It was worth the $26.00 I paid, though not much more. If I were to see it in a store versus online, would I have bought it? Probably not.

Spot on square. Only improvements I would like to see would be the increments inscribed as the sample ruler shows, having a 45 degree capability, and be made in stainless steel. I would gladly pay the extra price.
