My wife bought this because her flute mic needs phantom power. This box enables her to plug the mic into a series of effects pedals that go into a regular amplifier with the help of some adapters. The bottom line is that it is simple and does what it is supposed to do. Behringer makes good quality electronics for less than other manufacturers. I have been buying Behringer equipment for years and it is always decent. I own a DAW, Power mixer (old one), Chorus pedal, and a small mixer with 1/4 inch inputs. I have had most of the equipment for several years and all of it is still working normally.

Using it for the first time at 48 made an insane buzz.Tried at 12 - nice - perfect for live stuff. On this unit they put the switch in backwards. You can see the blue light is much brighter when set to 12.My mic only works at 48.So 12 is 48 and vice versa.Meh - it works - need it for a show so no time to return.

I wasn't aware that my mixing board's phantom power was only up to twenty something when I bought my mic. Instead of getting a new mixer, I found this conveniently priced device. It works right out of the box great without any issues. Plug and play. A lot smaller than I anticipated (this is a good thing) but still very solid and sturdy. My only complaint, and something I probably should've looked at more closely, is that it doesn't have a power button. It even states in the instructions to "pull out the main cord plug" to turn it off. I suppose in theory a button does just that but it still seems like a weird way to have to turn it on/off. It would be perfect if it had this feature and I probably would have gone with something else had I noticed. At this point, it's just a minor inconvenience and at this price to overall quality it's not really worth the hassle of finding something different. I'll just deal with it until I get a new mixing board.

I use some smaller Behringer Xenyx mixers which use USB and offer 12-15v Phantom power. When I want to use my bigger boy microphones like my AT875R I want a little more juice to snag my full range. This is a cheap quick work around to make sure I can deliver the microphone the power it needs.Noteworthy improvements are seen instantly which make buying this adapter 100% worth it if you travel around or take a smaller less powerful mixer like the Xenyx 302 USB mixer for space saving-ness.A switch on the PS400 toggles between 12 and 48v, and it does not come with any XLR cables. It's heavy for it's size and has a very quality feel. I keep buying Behringer and they are never the first things I look at...I guess I've just become a fan of their products without even noticing until now.

This little device is perfect for powering a condenser choir mic that we installed a few weeks ago. I am very impressed with all the Behringer products I have purchased and this one is no exception. Quiet, small, works great!Another reviewer noted a "hum" at the 12v level (there is a switch on the unit to select two possible phantom power levels). I noted the same hum but when I selected 48v, the hum vanished and the power is absolutely quiet. Theory: the 12v power is directly from the small, wall plug in power source. In the end, this was not a problem since the mic I installed could accept up to 52v.

This is a fine phantom power supply for those mics that require it. It's a decent weight metal enclosure with a visible, but not overly bright green power LED. I have only used this with in the 48V position and it produces no additional hiss that I can hear with an MXL770 and an AGPtek XLR/USB cable. Be aware that the MXL770 on 0dB does produce some hiss/low-level noise, but at its -10dB switch position, the line is clear and I don't have enough equipment to be able to pinpoint where that hiss is coming from at 0dB.It doesn't have feet so it will easily slide around a desk. There are 2 threaded holes on the bottom that look like ~4-40 or 6-32 and might make it so it could be mounted but only offer a few threads of engagement. I have it placed such that the inputs point up in the air and find that it is stable enough for my use.The power adapter is a wall-wart and the packaging was a fairly easy-to-open blister pack with 2 staples.

A lot of "IF's" in this review:IF you are looking for an excellent, quiet, powerful phantom noise filter, ANDIF you don't want to spend a lot of money, ANDIF you don't need to tweak and attenuate your audio.... THIS IS IT!I don't think I have ever been happier with an audio purchase as much as this one! I am using an MXL 900 mic going into this, then using the "Hosa Line Match Xformr 3.5MM M/xlrf" low impedance to 1/8 jack male to allow using my mic with a Canon HFR20 camcorder.... BLISS! It works PERFECTLY! I am trilled with these purchases!
