Definitely large and substantial. I put these under the four legs of a metal stool and they seem to be working out quite well. Just in case you're wondering it appears that you could stack these together to get more height.

they fit perfectly and simply look like an extension of the bed leg. Very sturdy.

I have a 102 year old relative who struggled to get out of her favorite chair. These risers made that task much easier. But the effort to get out of the chair infrequently put enough lateral force on the chair that it would tip one or more blocks. Even a 1" external flange around the bottom, removable or permanent, would go a long way to preventing that. BUT - this is not likely to be as great an issue for a bed because the motion of rising tends to be less lateral. This is a cost effect mechanism - but knowing the right height for your user is a guesstimate unless you can test various heights beforehand with an ad hoc fix. Do that if you are able.

I thought they were smaller and fitter.

I wanted to raise the foot of my bed to encourage blood flow to my head and away from my legs because of daily nocturnal leg cramps and hopefully invigorate brain cells. Initially, I thought to buy a bed wedge to put between the box spring & mattress. That product would have cost over $100. The Napnapday Bed Risers were a less expensive option and accomplished the same goal. It was difficult to lift the bed, but I did this by moving the mattress off the bed to make it lighter. I propped the end with a foot stool and inserted each 4" riser, then topped each off with the 2" risers. This two part operation made it so much easier than trying to lift the end of the bed up for 6" all at once. I have not experienced a leg cramp since I raised the foot of my bed - the jury is still out on the brain thing.I have not been compensated in any way for this review. It's been a year since I elevated the foot of my bed by 6 inches. I continue to try different solutions for my leg cramps although it has been definitely better with frequency & severity. I absolutely believe the increased blood flow to my head at night has improved my memory recall. I used to jokingly say that my memory was delayed not diminished. I may recall the name of an actor in a day or so (sometimes I gave up and just searched the movie). Now I can recall the name before the movie is over. This may not sound significant, but I am a senior and memory loss is a real sneaky issue. Blood flow/circulation is vital for all our organs & the brain is close to the heart, but I believe gravity plays a big role especially as we age. I am bathing my brain with blood as I sleep. Look ma, no pills!
