Big, heavy wrench that gets the nut out of your clothes washer. Make sure you understand the threads are opposite of typical nuts (righty-loosey, lefty-tighty), its on the wrench, too. The only other method is to get a deep socket that costs something like $40, and use an impact driver (if you have one).

Use it to remove the 29 year old washer lock nut. It took some pounding. Then it is used for the 3 leg bearing puller to lift the inner tub. I like this design that it sit on the nut. It works much easier. Great value then buying a new washer.

We have a 30+ year old Maytag washer. It works great, but has started to have a really bad mildew smell, so we decided to take it apart and clean it - YouTube videos.-- Without this spanner wrench, there is no way to remove the tub nut. I had to hammer hard to get it to spin (clockwise - opposite of most nuts). Put a cloth towel on the sides and bottom of the tub as you don't want the metal hammer to accidentally touch the porcelain tub.** Seems like a well made inexpensive tool. It can certainly take some hard hammer blows.

If you are replacing the GE washer shaft, you should get this tool.It makes the job so much easier. It will be next to impossible without it.The nut is very large on a GE washer. This is the right tool for the right situation.I also cleaned the threads with a wire brush and treated thethreads with thread loosening solution. The nut is aluminum so there could be a lot of corrosion. The tool lets you get the nut off without destroying the nut.Clean the nut and all of the mating surfaces to make sure theyare smooth before reassembly.

Although I did not use this tool because the part I was installing did not fit, I checked the tool alignment with the spanner nut it was to tighten to a high torque. I found the tool barely covered the distance required for the spanner it was to torque. It is possible the tool dimension is correct and the spanner nut size was off. But what I saw would have been lucky to achieve the torque required without sliding over the spanner it was to tighten.
