This kit has all the needles sizes and fids to make all types of paracord bracelets in different size cords. It also has a spatula that is used to smooth down the ends of the paracord that have been burned, to lock it in place. This set is well made and rigid.

I bought this kit with the hopes of making an eye-splice with some dacron rope. Unfortunately, due to the properties of dacron (kevlar) and the weave of the rope I had, I was NOT able to fit the fid into the core of the rope. Bummer.I do however plan to use this set to make some paracord craft items for my adventurous boys. The kit seems well built and I expect that it will last for quite some time, being made of metal.

These fids come to almost a needle point. They aren't very blunt at the tip causing you to snag paracord often and even go cause runs in the paracord by pulling strands along with it. I'll be looking for a more blunt set. The fids themselves are thick and sturdy and I don't forsee them bending, but they are sharply pointed. The smoothing tool works as well as you'd suspect. I don't plan to use the bag. The smoothing tool sticks out of it anyway.

I assume a fair number of people looking at this set are interested in it for doing the Manny Method on 550 paracord. Of the three fids in this set, the smallest is too small to thread 550 paracord, and the largest is too large to push through the end of 550. With the mid sized fid, 550 threads into it just fine, but shoving it through the end of the paracord is almost impossible. It can be done, but there will be a lot of sweat, tears, and swearing. The taper is not very long, which is probably the biggest problem. Additionally, the product description doesn't list precise fid sizes, so who knows if this is even built to Type III fid specs. I would recommend going with the Jig Pro Shop type III fid instead. Yes, its more expensive, but it has a much better taper and works well for the Manny Method.Aside from those issues, the set seems to be decently built. The flattening tool is pretty good (although it sticks out the top of the bag), and you do get a lot for your money. If you have no need for the Manny Method on 550, or if you're using 750 or larger paracord, this set will probably work well for you.
