If the screws on the back of you Garmin GPS are screwed in tightly, they will be difficult to remove. You can't use a regular flat head or Phillips head screw driver, you need to use the Torx 5 (or T5 bit) screw driver provided in the kit. The screws were in so tightly I ended up stripping the screws and couldn't get them out. I went to a cell phone repair place where they had better tools for removing tiny security screws. The service dude get the screws out quickly. He explained that I needed a higher quality T5 screw driver, and that the one I was using wasn't made well enough to grip the screw. So my advice is that in addition to ordering the replacement battery, you should also order a decent quality T5 screw driver and use the better screw driver to remove the screws. Otherwise, replacement of the battery was pretty easy.

I searched for how to replace the battery in my Garmin Drive 50 GPS and stumbled across the YouTube demonstration video for this product. It arrived quickly and since I had already watched the video online, I didn’t need to watch the included DVD so I had the screen off and battery replaced in just a few minutes. The battery even had a dab of glue on it to secure it inside the GPS like the OEM battery. The tools held up and did not break. The hardest part was getting the new battery plugged into the circuit board, which maybe took a minute (I had to put on my readers to see the hole…). I probably would have broken my GPS without the included tool if I would have tried to just order a battery (without the kit) because I would have tried to open it with a screwdriver. The plastic tool is well though out and the screwdriver is magnetic to help you maintain the small screws. The extra cost of the whole kit over the cost of just a replacement battery is worth it (IMO) if you don’t have a screen remover tool already. I plugged in the GPS and cut it on and it began working immediately. We’re all charged up now and ready for our next road trip (and we saved some money by replacing the battery instead of buying a new GPS).

emailed their customer support, no response. had to go out and buy the tool to remove screws. Installed battery, charge it up for 2 hours. The screen on the garmin was so light you could not see the letters or maps on it

I purchased this to replace the factory battery for a gamin auto GPS. The instruction video was great, the tools worked perfectly, and the battery itself gave a new lease on life for the product. Would definitely recommend if your device is failing to hold a charge. The work to replace the battery is pretty simple.

Dieser Akku ist absolut professionell gefertigt und hält was er verspricht. Er hat fast die doppelte Kapazität des ursprünglich in dem Gerät, in diesem Fall ein Garmin Navigationsgerät, eingebauten Akkus. Alle Maße sind entsprechen exakt dem im Gerät ursprünglich verbauten Akku auch der Stecker passt hervorragend. Negativ ist allerdings das Zubehör, das unnötig teuer ungefragt mit verkauft wird.

The star screw driver that came with battery does not fit the star screw attach to Garmin Drive 50, 50LM, 50LMT.I was stripping the star screws on the Garmin using the star screw driver that came with battery replacement kit.You need a T5 Torx head driver will remove the screws on a Garmin Drive 50, 50LM, 50LMT to get to the battery that overheating and order to replace with New Power 99 battery.Had to go buy a Husky 8-in-1 star precision screwdriver set (includes: (8) T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9, T10, T15) at the local Home Depot that is what they had there.

We were lazy to leave the GPS in the car, and the battery is ruined. We don't want spending another 200~300 dollars to buy a new GPS, because our old one work perfectly before the battery is gone. We are so glad to find this battery. Now our GPS works.

This company provided everything needed to be successful. There is a battery, a tool, and an instructional video. Everything worked well and my GPS now holds a charge. Time will tell how long this battery will last. Heat and cold in a car can decrease the life of the battery, so I am trying to minimize my GPS's exposure to extreme temperatures.
