Every once in a while I use my BMW to take the paddleboards down to the water or use it as an additional vehicle when we paddle down the river. These are great. They stay in place pretty well and keep my roof from getting scratched. They also get pretty compact so I may end up taking these when we travel if we decide to rent boards or kayaks and need to transport them on a rental. The included straps are good quality and relatively light weight. I even used them to transport some lumber on my roof a few days ago and they worked great for that as well. Overall, they are a good addition to my vehicle for just in case.

So I purchased these with a dual purpose. One, for its intended use, which works great! The other was hoping I could also use them to hold our surfboard using the hoist system in our garage. I don’t recommend it for that use

BASIKER Universal Soft Roof Rack Pads for Kayak,Surfboards,Snowboards,SUP, Canoes, Ladder, with Tie-Down Straps and Storage BagThese are super light and easy to install. We traveled with a our kayak a week ago and took a rental that didn't have racks so this worked perfectly. Prevented the car from getting damaged and kept the kayak stationary.

I bought these for a new car that doesn't yet have a permanent rack and it's done it's job so far. Set-up is relatively easy and it secures the surfboards really well. I only transport surfboards so have no idea how a canoe/kayak would do but the straps allow you to really crank them down tight so it would probably be fine. The bottom of the pads are well padded and grippy so they won't scratch your paint or slide off of your car. Overall it works as it's supposed to, without any glaring issues.

I really like how simple the "BASIKER Universal Soft Roof Rack Pads" are to use. Open your door, toss the strap through, go to the other side and feed the strap through the buckle. You are done. The pads have grippy rubber bumps on the bottom to keep them from slipping. Additional straps are included for use as tie downs. The quick release tabs are a great idea I will even use them with a standard roof rack in the future.I have no problem recommending the "BASIKER Roof Rack Pads" but want to mention a few non-features.1) the caribiners are more decorative than useful. I would use them only for very small, lightweight loads2) the pads do not cover the full roof of my truck, in fairness, if they did then they would not work on smaller vehicles. At the price these sell for I may buy a second set to get fuller coverage.3) These roof pads do not really provide as many options for securing your load as a real roof rack, but that isn't really what these are intended for.If taking a long trip using this system I recommend checking your load on occasion.Good Price, does what I hoped, Recommended

I've been using a different soft rack system for transporting a kayaks. It was so much trouble to get set up properly that I mostly switched to inflatable kayaks. This rack serves well and is much easier to use.

This comes with thick pads and easy sturdy straps. I like that it has a hood and trunk tie down as well. This will give you everything you need. You can confidently proclaim. That things not going anywhere.

These are very compact so it is easy to bring them along in a car without permanent racks when you have to transport your paddleboard. It protects the car and board, and hold it in place securely.
