I bought this for reasons other than what it was intended, but it works fine for my purposes. I was looking for a metal firepit cover that would be heavy enough not to be blown off by a high wind, and the fact that this came with something that could be used as a handle was a plus. So, for my purposes, it's perfect.However, in reading through the reviews I can see that some people found that it was not heavy enough as a base to hold something up and, while I have not used it for those purposes, I can't understand why it wouldn't be heavy enough, as it is quite heavy.Later...Having used this as a cover for my firepit several times, I have to say that it's perfect for that purpose. The piece that I use as a handle unsurprisingly gets too hot to use while the fire is still going, but using a sleeve as a potholder seems to do the trick. Mostly, I just don't remove it until the fire has gone out and the thing has cooled off, anyhow. The cover forces the heat downward, making for a complete burn of pretty much anything that I want to put in there.

Very heavy, should have came with a heavy duty case. Also I like the removable base plate, but not the breakdown

Great Warehouse deal! Used to make heavy duty cat climbing post. This sucker will not tip over in this application!
