Each layer of the Dental wax is separated by a wax sheet to prevent sticking. The color is more pinkish red, not as bright red pictured, which makes sense if you’re using it as a base for dentures. It is soft to the touch and does not crumble when holding it.There were no instructions included on how to use the product. Within the description it says "after heating or melting the wax by fame, the surface is shinny. Appropriate plasticity after softening…"Researching online: should be softened over a smokeless flame, once it begins to look shinny then it should feel soft to the touch, it's then moldable to the denture base and trim off the excessive residue while the wax is still soft. The max is comprised of natural materials: like carnauba wax, beeswax, minerals and paraffin waxes. Dental Waxes have a melting range, a range of temperatures at which each component of the wax will start to soften and then flow. Controlling the temperature of the wax will help prevent distortion.Flow is the movement of wax as the molecules slip over each other as the temperature of the wax increases, the viscosity of the wax decreases until the wax becomes liquid

I purchased these to make molds I use for my soft plastic lure pouring hobby. Easy to shape and sculpt a design. Once done easy to cast in silicon to produce a mold. Love using this product being if a design needs reworking or is plain old screwed up no problem to repair or just start over. When finished can easily be reused again. I find it easy to add fine detail when and where needed.

Before I set out reviewing this product, please allow me to disclaim that I am not a dentist. I do not work in the field of dentistry at all. Instead, I purchased these wax plates to help shape resin while kyuring it for artistic purposes. (This word is intentionally misspelled to avoid being flagged as a medical claim.)When testing it for dental purposes, I could only get my front teeth in, and the indented shape they made was very shallow. It is possible that dentists would use this product differently, such as putting in a quarter of a plate onto a quarter of the teeth for separate indentations. If so, this product might work as intended, but so far, it doesn’t seem to be the case. However, again, I am not a dentist, so I will not let this possible mis-conception detract from my review of this product. When using this as a mould for resin, this worked fairly well. I put one flat sheet down and trimmed another sheet and folded it into the shape of a heart. I then poured the resin in and kyured it for about 6 minutes with a UV light. Upon setting, the was was easily removed from the kyured resin. While this worked, it is clearly not what this product is intended for. The product bends easily, but does not hold shape when not flat. Because of this, the use of a cookie cutter or other type of mould would greatly enhance this product, allowing it to be cut and folded to follow a pattern before shaping the resin.Overall, I would recommend this product as a lower-cost alternative to wax that can be used over and over again, but I would also recommend making sure to purchase or make a mould for this to go inside of so that it more easily holds its shape during the kyuring process.

When I saw these wax sheets on Amazon, I wondered if they would work to plug the ends of the brass sleeves to keep glue out of the sleeves while they were glued into pen, or similar project, turning blanks. I received the package on a cold January day, let the wax sheets warm a bit (still cool to the touch), and pressed a brass sleeve end into a sheet of this wax. Worked perfectly. The wax plug stuck to the brass ID very well, preventing glue from getting into the tube while the tube was glued into the turning blank. Afterward, the wax plug pressed out nicely with a dowel, leaving just a thin film of wax on the ID of the tube, which is easily cleaned off before final assembly. New use for this base plate wax, at least for me.

As far as its use in dental application, I find this brand of base plate wax to be bit softfor my liking but It's OK for bite registration purposes and other dental uses. The cost is comparable to other brands.Choosing base plate wax based on its physical properties is a matter of personal preferencefor the clinician and lab techs.

I recently ordered the one pound (20-pack) of base plate wax. The wax arrived quickly. I ordered this because I like to experiment with different mediums. The wax arrives in sheet separated by paper to prevent any sticking to other sheets. There are no instructions with the wax but the listing indicates to heat with a flame til shiny to mold the wax. The sheets are hard but not brittle or easily broken. The wax must be heated to use it. This wax is unlike candle wax in that it doesn't flake or break off in small chips. It's smooth and malleable and easy to work with once heated. I am excited to continue to experiment with it in my crafting projects.
