About this item

  • [0-150μm, INDEX VALUE 5μm]--We have four kinds of single groove grindometer: 0-25μm, 0-50μm ( index value is 2.5μm) 0-100μm, 0-150μm ( index value is 5μm). Single Fineness gauge, with a spatula, stainless steel by forging (4Cr13) is made with a certain slope of the groove. Scale in microns (μm), the accuracy of fineness plate grooves ± 1μm.
  • [USING AND READING]--Put some particles on the deeper groove, then use scraper to scrape them from deeper to low groove. Immediately (not over 5 seconds) observe the tick mark of grain visible in the channel, this numerical value is the fineness.
  • [READING UNIT: μm]--Correspondence between micron and hegman as follows: 0 hegman=100 um 4 hegman=50 um 8 hegman=0 um
  • [HOW TO CHOOSE GRINDOMETER]--Choose a fineness gauge 5-10um higher than the product fineness range you measured. Single groove means only only one scraper groove, double grooves refer to two scraping grooves, which are convenient for comparison.
  • [NOT ONLY FOR PAINT]--Fineness gauge can measure not only the fineness of paint, but also the fineness of coatings, pigments, raw materials, plastics, printing ink and so on. In chocolate, ceramics, paper, medicine, food and other industries, it is also possible to use single groove grinding fineness design for fineness detection.

I use this during the melanging process to ascertain how much more my melange needs to grind for to eliminate all grittiness in the chocolate mixture, sometimes from the nibs sometimes from the sugar/allulose. Must have tool!

Does what it's supposed to! Haven't had a need for the second scraper, but this has helped make sure our chocolate comes out objectively smooth.

Basically the scrappers all have nicks in them, the plate also has a very rough edge and likes to trap pigment in it easily, it even gave a false reading of a dye as 70 microns, which as a dye isnt possible due to it you know... being smaller than a water molecule. Its not a a legit tool

The channel where the product is scraped is not polished but has visible roughness that will cause the instrument to give false readings. It may be useful for food products, but not paint! After submitting the review above, the seller contacted us and offered a solution that was acceptable and we are pleased with the service and responsiveness of the seller. We have given them more stars of approval.

Surprising quality for the price. Cannot verify Accuracy as I have nothing to compare it to. I needed to compare "relative" results which this gauge worked well for.
