I like this radio. No complaints, easy to program with chirp. I like the bigger screen compared to my 5r and 8hp. Having air band is cool, I’ve enjoyed listing to the local airport radio traffic. I’ve never owned an icom or yeasu so I don’t have anything more expensive to compare it too. But for 30$ you can’t go wrong with this HT.

Extremely great quality for the price! I would definitely recommend it to anybody's looking for a budget two-way radio. Not very difficult to program.

The price was very low, I was looking at a similar model but this price was great and has all the features I was looking at. Also easy to program using Chirp.

Can’t seem to connect it to computer- tried two different cables and two different computers. So No chirp programming available! Will try to do it manually but this is way too difficult a project. Not user friendly At All! If I can’t hear anything on this I probably will return it . Very disappointed!!

It was clear to me that the 5RM radio was used and not new like I ordered. The radio box was not sealed, and the stuff was just thrown in and shipped to me. The screen protector was missing, and the radio battery was fully charged and installed. The radio was tampered with, and programed channels had been applied with an app, probably CHIRP. The radio does not receive on any channel, so I reset it. That did not work. I do not know who is at fault here. The shipping was fast, and the shipping box was not opened or damaged.update:I contacted the seller, and they went out of their way to help me. TOP TIER SELLER, they even offered to send me a new one for free. Their support was awesome, and they replied to my need right away. The seller/company does not ship the orders out, Amazon here in the states do the shipping. The 5RM radio is very nice indeed and has that much needed weather channels here where I live. The radio feels good in my hand and has some great features. No more than it cost it seems to be a good radio for backup if need for emergencies. I give TIDRADIO DIRCT support & customer service 5 stars.

The radio made a good impression. It appeared solid with a nice large display. Compared to my UV-5R III it is a little heavier and has a good feel to it. However, it is advertised a 10 Watt radio. On 144MHz the highest wattage was 9.0, on 220MHz the highest wattage was 6.1 and on 440MHz the highest reading was 9.0 Watt. It came with 2 antennas, a short antenna and TidRadio TD771 (long). The TidRadio TD-771 antenna did reasonably well on 144HMz & 420MHz but was over 9.4:1 SWR on 220MHz. The short antenna's SWR was 4.2:1 for 144 & 420 MHz and 3.5:1 for 220 MHz. Overall not the best value.

I think this would be a good prepper radio. Pros : USB-C charging, big battery. Similar UV-5R menu, but programmed quickly with latest build of Chirp. Larger overall size, similar size and weight to the old Motorola 200 I use at work. Big easy read display. Multi-band, not just 2M and 70Cm. Extra 771 style antenna included in bundle, but stock seems fine. Also has preset NWS channels, just press "0" for 2 secs. Used it during storm Debbie. This is a " full featured TX radio " if you know what I mean. Cons : Menu is red text on blue, can be hard to see. The UV-5 is better, wish they kept it. Also, if you name a preset channel, it appears in small lower case text, not the giant easy to read frequency. Airband is not super clear, but it is AM. I heard flights 10 miles out on approach. It's better on the Broadcastify app on your phone. Mixed reviews on the actual signal quality and power, but the audio speaker seems louder than the old UV-5. So, for under $ 40, I'll take it. Good bundle value from TIDRADIO. I keep it in the car. Not a Kenwood or Yaesu, but you won't cry if it gets stolen or breaks.
