I have used a couple different brands of strainers, and for most uses, prefer the Banjo. It is well made of a very strong plastic material, and the screen fits inside more precisely than other brands I have tried. Also, the cap is sealed with an O-ring that fits into a groove, rather than a flat washer that is squashed between two sealing surfaces. The O-ring seals securely without needing to be tightened down very tight, making it much easier to remove the cap and clean the screen in the future. About the only place I prefer the flat washer that is sandwiched between the cap and housing would be if you have very fine sand in your water. That can get behind the O-ring and cause it to drip slowly, where you can tighten the flat washer more, so it won't drip (but you may need a tool to remove the cap later).Made in USA sticker was on the side.

Used for straining ditch water pumped to lawn sprayers. It solved the problem of plugged sprayers completely by taking out foreign particels large enough to plug the sprayers. And it cleans itself by opening a valve installed in the 'Y". Great product. good seller

We use this to filter ditch water (irrigation water) to remove particles of moss, dirt, seeds, etc which were a constant problem in plugging our lawn sprayers. Presto---no more problem. We installed a ball valve which we open occasionally to 'wash out' the filter screen itself to keep pressure from building up which could possibly collapse the screen (no evidence of that actually happening). Every once in a while we unscrew the cap, take the screen out and remove any debris that may accumulate. The 30 mesh screen is working really well in keeping particles from plugging the sprayers without plugging and blocking the flow. We are using this on the pressure side of the pump. It is a good idea to also use a filter on the suction side of the pump ---using a different filter system----but we were doing this before and still having the sprayer plugging problem----Now this Banjo unit has eliminated that problem----It is really a well made and robust unit---We recommend it highly----
