Made of lightweight vinyl with tons of detail, this is a very feminine and reasonably sturdy backpack for a girly girl. One of the reasons I ordered it was because it came with a cute fuzzy ball and ballerina charm, which was hidden in one of the pockets, so don't despair if you can't find it at first. Also included are a cute little zipper pencil case and an adorable lunch bag resembling a pocketbook. I have granddaughters who currently attend primary school, and by the end of the school year, their backpacks look like they've been dragged around for a month in the Serengeti by wild animals. So, mileage will vary depending on the age of the person using this; it is not at all flimsy, but is also not super rugged.
