This is the Jazz mpc designed by Bobby Shew for Yamaha. It's a much-used mpc for good reason, a solid "section" mpc that produces a nice core "jazz" tone.

But it pulls me too far away from that rich, dark sound the flugelhorn produces. Flugelhorn requires a DEEP cup to get that rich sound, so the 1 1/2 c just didn't work for me. And I love Bach mouthpieces.

Just decided to pick up my old Couesnon flugel after many years and purchased this mouthpiece for it. When I use to play professionally the 1 1/2 C was definitely my favorite mouthpiece and produce my richest sound. Very comfortable and a beautiful tone.

This is the brand that all others are judged by. Be it cup diameter, rim shape, throat /backbore, etc., Bach mpcs are "The Standard". After recently switching to a 1.5C trumpet mpc, I needed a matching size for the flugelhorn and this one totally fits the bill. My experiences with Amazon have all been good (even when a return was needed). Highly reccomended.
