I recently bought this bach cup mute for the jaz band I am in. It works great and does exactly what a cup mute is supposed to do. It looks and feels great with it's sleek black plastic. Although some worry about the mute being plastic it is really sturdy. The only negative thing there us to say is it does make the bell of your horn slightly heavier.

I bought it for use with a couple of tunes my band plays. It was more reasonably priced than others, and I thought it a good idea since it is plastic and less likely to scratch, etc. Unfortunately, the edges are not rounded and it is a little sharp, but I haven't been hurt, just a little odd feeling. It is long enough to fit my oversized bell of my Bach 36G.

The mute would not stop falling out of my trombone (including during a concert). Since it kept popping out, the mute broke in two! I was able to epoxy it, but it should stay in the trombone in the first place.

This mute is light in weight, compared to metal or stone-lined mutes, and is easy to use.

I've always liked sounds of the Bach cup mute because they don't get so muddy, especially in the lower registers. The only drawback is they're plastic so don't tolerate drops on a hard floor very well. But then again, I had my first one for over 40 years so that's not too bad.

Perfect fit for my daughter's trombone of the same manufacturer. She loves it and a couple of other trombone players even said they love it - so much so that one asked to borrow it.

This goes for both the straight mute and cup mute I bought from them. I've only used the two of them not even three months when the top of the straight mute fell right off after dropping it a few feet from the ground. The cup mute managed to last longer than that, but just barely. The cup broke off after flying back home, and while I know most instrument equipment is fragile, it definitely does not hold up to being "durable" whatsoever. I wouldn't recommend this mute to anyone.
