I have a collection of classic hats for all occasions. I also have a 20s style swimsuit, because I'm old and no one at the beach or pool needs to see how out of shape I really am. It just seemed obvious that my collection would be completed with a boater hat that went with the old timey swimwear. Buying a hat unseen is risky. I have a big melon. This hat fits perfectly and it excellent quality. It is not just a costume piece for me. It is a hat that I will wear for practical purposes in the summer months. It's the real deal. I am well pleased with this purchase.

A good value! I don’t know what a “real” one would cost, but if you are off to a costume party, this hat would pass for real.

The brim to the hat came bent, which is the exact opposite of what it’s supposed to look like. The hat itself is nice enough, but the packaging screwed it up. I’m thankful for the customer who left instructions on how to iron it. If you don’t mind that, then it’s a good hat.

It came packaged in a hat cradle which surprised me. I expected it to come flat, squashed and beat up afterreading reviews. It came in beautiful condition and fits my huge head. Great hat. 👍

Really nice for the price! I get compliments on it. Came well packaged and protected. Upon close inspection it’s not an heirloom quality weave but - you’re shopping on Amazon for a straw hat what do you expect. No one is going to walk up to get 6” from your melon to examine it. Looks very nicely made with a little distance and I love it. Black ribbon is cute and goes with everything.

This hat is the same as the cheap $10 costume hats. It is really small, overpriced and the brim is very wavy. I tried the recommended method of straightening the brim with but it went back to all wavy.

I love hats. I have lot's of hats. Finally, hat's are starting to come back into style for men. It's one of the few fashion accessories that men have a lot of choices in and not just a beanie or ball caps which I associate more for children more than men.The Boater hat was common in the 20's. It's made of straw, so it's perfect for the summer because it's light, lets a breeze through while at the same time protects you from the UV light. It's unique in that the brim is supposed to be absolutely flat, similar to a Mountie's hat.It's colourful and can be worn in with dress or casual clothing. It adds a certain elegant look.This hat is well made, with a linen sweat band. it's comfortable. Light, and ships with a hard plastic insert that helps it keep it's shape during shipping. I say 'helps' because when mine arrived, the brim needed a little attention (and from the photos still needs a little flattening). There are tons of YouTube videos that show how to flatten a brim, but the basic procedure is to lay towel over the part that needs straightening, use an iron with lot's of steam and work slowly and methodically. In minutes your hat will be as flat as a pancake.It's light, just as it should be and a very comfortable hat to wear. I found the sizing chart to be spot-on.I would recommend this hat to both men and women and think it's a very stylish accent.

Read the reviews & metered my expectations based on users before me. When it arrived it had a slight bend in it but I did as others suggested & used a steam iron & flattened it out in about 10 minutes & let it lay flat overnight. Looked great the next day & stayed flat for 9 hours in 92 degree heat. I got an XL & it was still a little tight, but will work out a little.
