Purchased this gate to keep our dogs from going upstairs. This gate was much easier to install than another brand we initially purchased for another door opening. Because we have it at the bottom of our stairs, it can only swing in one direction; however, the gate is designed to swing both ways which is a great design feature. It also opens very easily without having to lift up or apply pressure - another feature which is superior to another Babelio design.

It's a pretty solid gate. Looks average in terms of style, but functionality wise it's just what I needed to mount above the baseboards and not rely on pressure mounts against the walls. Useful for young kids and dogs, takes a good bit of force to lift up that will keep younger kids safe for a good while. The auto close feature is nice. My only complaint is I don't believe there is a way to take the gate off the hinge easily in case it is no longer needed.

Perfect for keeping my 170lb fur baby from getting into the dining room and stealing the kids food off their plates. Love that there's no bar at the bottom to trip over. Installation was easy and it's been up almost a year.

I actually purchased the gate for outdoor use on the gangway to my private boat dock to keep critters off the dock. I was looking for a solution to this and landed on Babelio Baby Gate as it boasted no bottom rail system, expandable width and was self closing in both directions. Installation was a breeze and the all metal configuration felt solid and high quality. Even though the gate is intended for indoor use I believe it will last just fine outside. Great product and I would definitely recommend it!

I will say that the installation on this is not trivial. It has an odd shape that makes labeling between two walls easy to mess up. And if you're putting it between walls, you may not have a stud which the instructions say you just have. In spite of that it comes with drywall anchors that I didn't trust. So I used some flip-toggle anchors instead that could handle a lot of weight. So I don't love the install kit but still 5 stars because the gate itself is great. It takes almost no space and stays open. The open floor on the bottom is everything. And so far, it seems super sturdy.

These are great gates. We got two of them for the top and bottom of our staircase. These are perfect for the top of stairs because there is no bar running across the walkway to trip you up.The construction is very solid. No child will be able to break this gate. The hinge end should be installed into a stud. If installed into drywall, I think a determined kid or someone carelessly putting weight on the open gate would pull it out of the wall. The self close feature is really handy. If you want it to stay open, open it a full 90 degrees. Any less than that and the gate will close on it's own. It makes a distinct sound when it latches, so you know it is closed without having to look back.I'm very happy with these gates, my only suggestion would be to put a raised ridge on the release button to make it easier to get a grip on.

A small screw that attaches the gates to the hinges to the wall or post wiggles free and dis lodges causing the gate to fail and not close or open properly. Safety Hazzard.Other gates I own use a more solid hinge connection with less points of failure. Not worth the price. Will be replacing with the Toddleroo by North States Baby Gate for Stairs: Easy Swing & Lock Series 2 Child Gate. The Toddleroo has a better designer hinge attachment with less plastic and less points of failure.

Love this gate. Solved our problem keeping our small dog out of the hallway. Be forewarned, it takes 2 hands to unlatch. It does not open with one hand. I just didn't install the bottom latch and it opens with one hand that way. If you install both latches you'll have to use 2 hands to lift and open the gate. It is a "lift gate" but does swing closed automatically. We have a small dog and the gate is sturdy enough with just the top latch installed. I highly recommend this gate!
