Use this adapter cable to connect your inkjet, laser or high speed printer to a computer without a parallel port. Forget the hassles of IRQ sharing by adapting your printer to USB. If you have multiple printers, you can eliminate the need for a switchbox by connecting each printer to a USB port. The device is fully transparent to the user and is ideal for true bi-directional communication. This adapter auto-negotiates hardware recognition for faster protocol setup, and is fully plug-and-play compatible.

My ancient HP laser jet would not work after I installed Windows 10. I took a chance on the old Belkin cable's software not being compatible with the new OS and bought this Windows 10 comparable cable. My printer immediately came to life! This cable worked flawlessly to salvage a perfectly good printer's functionality. A VERY economical fix compared to the much more expensive fixes proposed by my IT firm.

LazerJet HP6P users needing the 1284 cable with the IEE/USB port ends, this is the correct cable. My Gateway Windows 7 Pro computer tower (USB) connects and passes data to the HP6P printer IEE 1284 pin connection thu this cable after a free software download. The device driver is at hp.com. To make the Win 7 operating system work with the HP6P, download from the Win 7 - Add New Device file. Find the HP site that lists this driver --> (universal driver for printing only). Click : Add New Device, find and click the universal device. The cord looks very strong. The ends of the cord look very strong. The cord seems to be properly insulated to prevent data loss. I did not know if this cord was going to work, but the price is so low for such goofy cord. I am very happy I bought it because my 20 year old HP6P is such a great printer and it's a shame to have to throw away a great printer.

Being rather resistant to new-fangled ink-jet printers and such, I still love and cherish my dinosaur dot matrix printer. Imagine my despair when I discovered my new laptop doesn't believe in parallel printer ports anymore. This Printer Adapter Cable saved the day. I just replaced the old cable on my dinosaur, stuck it into a USB port and my life was worth living once more. Now I can once again make un-gawdly printing noises as before. And I don't have to buy all those stupid ink-jet cartridges.

I bought another USB to parallel cable trying to use my old HP LaserJet printer. After hours of investigation, I found out that the cable was not able to be used with Windows 10. I returned it and started my search yet again. This time I hit the jackpot. This cable is absolutely perfect in every way and it works!!!! As usual with Amazon, it was easy to order and it came on time. If you have Windows 10 and you need this type of cable, then look no more, this it what you should get.

I purchased this to interface an old HP1200 printer to a new DELL 8900 PC.Interesting.. it worked ok when the PC was running (when I plugged it in) HOWEVER when I shut down and try to restart the DELL... the DELL would not power up at all. A blinking orange light instead of the white power light.I discovered that the DELL 8900 did not recognize this adapter as "VALID" so it did not pass the "POST" test... the test that PC's do when they boot up and check all the attached devices, etc..
