They provide minerals and nutrients from the ocean that will help your hermit crab thrive. Over time, they will consume the sponges, which is highly beneficial for their exoskeletons.   • Awesome Aquatic’s Regular and Jumbo hermit sponges are hand selected and pass inspection before packaging. Only High Quality sponges are used.
  • Directions; Place 1 or more sponges in your hermit’s water dish, to fill the dish. They should be changed out for a clean dry sponge regularly to prevent contamination or fouling. You can microwave the sponge for 10-15 seconds to sterilize.

They also contain Calcium that the crab will ingest over time to help strengthen their hard-outer exoskeleton shell that they shed. Our all natural sustainably harvested and ecologically friendly sponges are a great addition to any hermit crab enclosure. To use Place in your hermit’s water dish, it should be changed out for a clean dry sponge regularly to prevent containments. You can microwave the sponge for 10-15 seconds to sterilize.

What I wasn’t told when I got my hermit crabs on our vacation is that they actually need these sponges to consume water and live healthy. Also they need salt water to absorb through their skin to maintain a healthy lifestyle and get vital nutrients.

The sponges were smaller than I thought when I ordered them, but I should have known for the price! These are still suitable to use in my hermit crab bowls, although I had to use 2 The hermies have had no problem with them so far.

The sponges were a good price but were a little smaller than I was anticipating and had a more dense texture than the one I had before. I would however buy them again.

I use these to provide a source of humidity for my leopard gecko when he sheds. He loves them! He actually curls up around them inside of his warm hide. The 4-pack is great since I have an extra pair for if the first pair gets worn out.
