This was shipped in a laughably poor box. The box was about twice as big as the cymbal. It was padded with only one small piece of brown paper... The cymbal was clearly bouncing around in the box during shipping as there were big slices on the edge of the box where the cymbal was hitting. This lead to the edges of the cymbal being rough and damaged and there was also a big dent near the cymbal edge. I'm in the process of trying to get a replacement from Amazon. However, the cymbal sounds great, but I expect a mint condition cymbal at this price range... Packaging gets a negative 10 stars, but cymbal sound gets 5 stars.

Got the 22". Been playing 57 years and had lots of rides. This is one of the worst playing and sounding rides I have ever played at any price. It played thick like a heavy Metal or Power Ride. It had so much loud wash and loud, obnoxious overtones it rendered itself unusable for anything except high volume where it wouldn't be heard anyway. I may have gotten a dud. But I doubt it since Zildjians are produced by computerized automation seeking consistency per their videos. It is fine that others may love it. I just don't happen to be one of them.

When this arrived and I played it for the first time, it was not what I was expecting. I was used to a very heavy and loud ride. But after playing this for a little while, I love it! The amount of musical capabilities of this cymbal is amazing. The ping of the cymbal sits just where it should in the mix. The wash and sustain are perfect for worship music or jazz. All in all this is the best ride I have ever had. Well worth the money!

Awesome you will instantly start to enjoy your cymbals. I’m happy with mine and also got a 17” crash to match.

IMHO, the 22 has more going for it than the 20, recognizing that there is variation from cymbal to cymbal. My 22 has a beautiful spread, nice medium-dark stick sound with no strange overtones building up, a great shank and nice crashability. My 20 has significantly lower tone, more wash and basically does less, though it still had a very nice stick sound and crash. The 20s I’ve tried have just been more one-dimensional than my 22, which may not be a bad thing if you like what it does. Either is worth a shot to complement a more complex ride in a jazz pairing.

Keeping in mind that these cymbals are like snowflakes, I'm sure they all sound as good as mine. Very mild sounding bell, easy to control volume while playing, nice wash upon crashing. I play a lot of jazz and this cymbal is dark and chocolatey with good stick definition.

I have tried three of these cymbals and each had an exquisitely beautiful, darkish sound. Unfortunately, at a certain frequency each also had a hum. I was never able to determine the exact frequency, but it was in the higher range when I was playing fast 8th note triplet ostinato patterns. When I mentioned 'darkish' sound, this cymbal is semi-dark in that it borders on bright. Frankly, I love the slightly higher fundamental and this would have been my favorite cymbal had it not been for the hum that seems to plague every 22" model. Ironically the does not have the hum issue and that is the one I now use the most.My complaints aside, in live situations neither you nor your audience will detect the hum because this cymbal manages to carve out its own niche in the mix. It's also a very quiet cymbal that is best in acoustic or lightly amplified ensembles. Do note, however, that the hum is readily discernible when recorded.Another thing that makes me still love this cymbal is that it crashes nicely. In fact, it is thin enough that it will shimmer on a stand when you play backing tracks at a reasonable volume. As such, this is technically a crash/ride.Bottom line: for live playing this is an excellent cymbal with a gorgeous sound that is a little brighter than its name implies. If you want close to the same sound you will have to get its smaller sibling that I mentioned above.

I recently purchased this cymbal after extensive searching, trying various K Custom models, and finally settling on this particular one.First, a few caveats when buying a K Custom - all of these cymbals are hand hammered and each has a distinct, unique personality and sound. For example, when I listened to the sound sample on Zildjian's site (paste the ASIN number, B00006AZMI, into the search box, select All Products and click GO), the sound is a bit different from the actual cymbal I received. Second, if you are seeking cymbals that are cutting or project, the K Custom series is not for you.Zildjian describes this cymbal as dark and warm with trashy crash qualities. Mine roughly fits that description, but can also be airy and washy, with over- and under-tones, depending on how you play it. I've even managed to get a bit of a shimmer from it with a stick technique that uses about a third of the stick surface when riding the cymbal. Moreover, while Zildjian's sound sample did impart a 'trashy crash', the cymbal I have does not have this quality in a pronounced way. It does manage to combine articulation with a lot of sustain (I know that sounds odd, but it's true.)I said that this cymbal does not cut or project - you can literally carry on a normal conversation a foot away when riding this cymbal. The crash washes, but does not project. Horrible for rock, but perfect for acoustic jazz, and that is where this cymbal excells.
