I had high hopes for the Drill and Tap Set because it promises the convenience of getting two jobs done with one tool. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The thread quality is very average—it works, but it doesn’t inspire confidence for precision or durability. While there’s nothing technically wrong with it, the lack of refinement in the threads makes it feel less reliable, especially for critical projects. If you’re looking for a quick, all-in-one solution, this might work, but don’t expect top-tier results. It’s functional but not impressive.

I always choose Vine items that I plan to use personally or for my family, and I strive to provide an honest and fair review based on our experience with the product. My ratings range from 1 star to 5 stars, depending on how well the product meets our needs and expectations. This drill and tap seems to be well made. The precision appears to be good. I have only used one of them but it worked fine and got the job done. This is a reasonably priced set as well so no complaints from me.I hope this drill and tap set lasts me a long time, but I will update my review should I have any trouble with it in the future.Thank you for reading! I hope you find this review and the accompanying pictures helpful in making your purchasing decision.

This is a five piece set of SAE drill and tap combination bits. Each bit drills a hole and then cuts threads in what ever you are drilling into. FYI, don’t try to use it in wood. Metal or hard plastic work well. Easy to use. Best to use a variable speed drill to enable you to to slow the bit down while you are cutting the threads

I’ve used these taps several times now, and they do an excellent job of cutting new threads quickly and cleanly. The resulting threads are smooth and precise, which is exactly what you want. That said, using them effectively does require some care and experience. For one, it’s important to find the right speed for your drill. Too slow, and the tap will bind; too fast, and you risk losing control during the tapping process. If you’re working with a shallow hole, be careful to stop cutting at the right time so you can reverse the drill and back the tap out without damaging the threads. Also, don’t forget to use plenty of cutting oil—it really helps.I’ve broken a few taps so far, but that’s mainly due to my own mistakes, either rushing or not following the proper technique. I’ve used all the sizes, and they all tap well. With the smaller sizes, though, you really need to tap in one continuous motion. Stopping halfway through and trying to restart can easily break the tap when you go to continue or back it out.Based on my personal experience, I would definitely recommend this product.

This set will help complete the collection of small screw-thread taps in my home workshop. I'll probably use one of these soon to upgrade a folding wagon, replacing sheet metal screws in steel tubing with machine screws.WHAT I THINK THIS IS- My sense is that this product was intended to impress hobbyists with a "3-in-one" product. I suppose such tools are used in industrial settings - but it wouldn't be THESE taps at this price point.- From watching YouTube videos of people evaluating similar products, my impression is that they DO have a role, as long as you use them very conservatively.HOW I'LL USE THEM- For drilling the right size hole. The most useful feature for me over a regular tap is that the drill is the right size. No guessing, no approximations. However, I assume that the drill is not self centering, so I'll cut a pilot hole first.- I expect to be doing the tapping by hand. But if by machine, then REALLY slow - much slower than the specified "300 rpm" max, and only in soft materials.- With lots of oil.RATING- 5-stars because I think they will work properly for the light-duty use for which they were intended. I may update this review after I have more experience to share.

These combo drill and taps work well, but show signs of wear after the first use. It's my first experience with combo tools and they're a super convenient way to pop threaded holes in sheet metal and maybe thin plate. I'm definitely sold on the concept. My kit came with two #12-24 bits and no 1/4"-20 bit. There should be one of each. The #6 and #8 bits are clearly labeled, which I appreciate. The other bits are labeled, but so lightly and with so little contrast that I need magnification and to get the light just right to be able to read them. These are specifically not for hard steels, but they state that they are good for mild steel, which is how I used them. After the first use (18ga sheet metal) the black coating was worn from the cutting edges and the edges showed some signs of premature wear. The wear did not get appreciably worse in the next three holes, but the fact that it's there has me concerned about the longevity of this set. Fortunately (for me) these are not something I will use everyday, so they should last a while and as long as the taps stay sharp I can resharpen the drill tips.I'll be keeping combo drill & taps in my toolbox from now on, but I'll probably look for something tougher when I need to replace any of these. For a few jobs and/or light use these will be fine.

These are very nice taps. All you need to get going is a pilot hole big enough for the first part of the bit to get a bite on and a bit of oil. I have a really old (and not so great) 19" rack that basically comes with the "pilot holes", meaning they aren't tapped and they're small. I actually ruined a hand tap trying to get this thing right and haven't been able to approach it again 'til now. These bits are *sharp and they hold up well. You can see that I used the bit on the right side. I loaded it up with a bit of light machine oil and went at it - 8 holes. You can see there's no significant wear to the tap, and the screws fit perfectly.Cost per unit is excellent - these are a great deal.
