There is no need to install batteries, just put on the guide ball that can be used, and the installation is simple. We come with a double-sided sticker that you can easily attach to your car or boat.

When installing: the red scale should point to the same direction as the front of the car, and the direction of the red scale line during driving is the direction you are driving.

For example: the driving direction is north, then N will coincide with the red tick line, and the front of the car is aimed at the northeast, then E N will be facing the red line.

Precautions:

1. Place or hold the compass and use it in a horizontal state to ensure accurate readings.

2. In order to avoid the confusion of the pointer, please keep away from objects containing magnetic, electric current, and some metal products (such as high-voltage lines, mobile phones, stereos, speakers, screwdrivers, magnets, etc.) when using.

3. Do not beat or pat the compass with your hands, so as not to affect the measurement accuracy.

4. Do not expose the compass to the sun for a long time. (The temperature is too high or too low will affect the life of the compass)

5. Keep the shell and mirror clean, do not wipe with dirty cloth or alcohol.

6. When not in use, please place the compass in a clean and cool place, away from magnetic substances, to avoid consuming the magnetism of the pointer.

I have bought many compasses and most of them don't work correctly. This one stays the same as you're going in that direction but as you're going east it might be actually South so if you just know that the South marker actually means East it could be accurate. If you get what I'm saying and it's too hard to figure out so I've thrown it away. Not worth buying

It’s a nice compass… just like I remember them. However there is so much electronic stuff going on in today’s cars… it doesn’t work. I am not sure why but in some places on the dash it just points one direction all the time. In other places in the car it points vaguely in the right direction but most of those places are not useful to the driver.

I bought this because it was cheap and figured it was worth a shot. I saw reviews saying that vehicle electronics could create EMI that interferes with the device so I tested it away from any electrical devices. In the middle of the desert it would register about 30-50 degrees off. This suggests that the issue is not vehicle electronics but rather product quality.

All compasses are subject to deviation caused by metal, electrical or magnetic influences in their environment. This is especially true in a car or boat. The product page shows an instruction sheet that indicates there are adjustment screws to correct for this deviation. NO SUCH ADJUSTMENT exists therefore the unit is extremely inaccurate in a car. The unit indicated we were pointing East when in fact we were pointing South-West. Also the double-sided adhesive failed after 14 hours. This is a complete piece of junk!

My girlfriend kept getting lost and would call me crying. I would ask, "What direction are you heading and where are you?" She could tell what street she was on but not what direction she was heading. I got her this little helper. I can now help her get unlost and her anxiety levels greatly diminish while driving.

Eh? It arrived broken, had come out of the mounting, but I was able to re-assemble it. It seems to stick, but really for $15 I think it'll work good on my vibrating ultralight aircraft.
