The aluminum face is a bit thicker than other heat reflectors that I've seen and the fibrous backing has a lot of thick layers. I think this should do a good job insulating and reflecting the heat. The only downside is the edges seem like they will peel away fairly easily as there isn't much holding it together. So if your intended use may take some abuse, you'll need to figure out something to beef up the edges.

Slightly misleading title and what I consider to be an overpriced product considering the quantity delivered.

I'm using this to wrap around the exhaust hose for a diesel heater. Works well and keeps the heat from being a problem under the heater.

I’m working on updating my electrical runs in my truck while installing fuel injection. I got rid of the original plastic loom, it had melted in this area from the exhaust heat. I replaced the wire wrap with the newer style high temp split loom and added this heat shield in this area for that final layer of heat protection for the wire insulation. Shouldn’t have any problems with this much heat protection now.

This folded up aluminum backed heat shielding is pretty great. This heat shielding arrives folded up in a plastic zip lock bag as I show in my pictures. The fiber on this is pretty thick and so is the aluminum but it does feel like the aluminum is easy to just peel off of the fibers. The issues I have with this is that it doesn't have an adhesive on the back which makes me have an extra step to find high heat resistant adhesive to use this and I feel this is pretty expensive stuff for the amount that you receive.Overall, good heat shielding but the lack of an adhesive backing makes this a bit more difficult to use for high heat applications.

I don't have any good photos of the heat shields in place because the generator was already installed and buttoned up before I thought about it. We have a custom-built generator enclosure near the house & I wanted to add a little extra heat insulation because you never know how long you will need it to run. We got both the 1/4" & 1/8" aluminized heat shield pads from Fourub. I used the 1/4" heat shielding on the back side where the exhaust pipe exits the box and used the 1/8" heat shielding on the upper area where the back wall meets the lid. This was just extra protection on top of what was already provided in the enclosure. So far, we're really happy with the results.

So I know these are for automotive use but I had an unconventional need for this. We bought a metal heat cover for our propane firepit we use for camping - it helps the heat not just dissipate up, but rather pushes it out at the people sitting around the fire. Its a game changer to stay warm and not have to sit on top of the flame constantly, you can sit back, relax and still feel the heat. Heat Warden if anyone is wondering. But when its only 1 or 2 people around the fire you get even more heat directed at you if you can block off the unused sides so it pushes heat out only to sides where you are sitting. The side panels that came with the cover are like $80 each - after paying $200 for the cover I was looking for something less expensive to just block the sides. Another issue was weight, as everything we add to the motor home adds to the weight, so keeping things light weight and compact is important.Found this stuff and as it can withstand very high temperatures and reflects 90% of heat seemed like it was worth a try! It works perfect!!! Love that it folds up nice and small, weighs nothing and does the job perfect for a fraction of the price. As you see in my photo I just tucked it under the rim of the cover and it held in place fine, I bought clips too just in case. The back felt side gets a little warm but stays relatively cool.We are going to make a wooden top that can sit on top of the heat base and line the back side with this stuff to keep the wood heat resistant....that way we can use the heat cover as a table and gather round for cards, meals, etc....also keeping the little hands of our grandkids safe from accidentally touching it.This review may not help you as you probably aren't looking at this product for a side heat reflector on a fire pit...lol, but still wanted to say this stuff is great. The only issue I see for our use, is even after only using it one time the silver lining cracked a bit where it was folded under the top to hold in place and the layers seem like they will peel apart over time. So I might source some heat resistant tape to secure all 4 sides and keep it together and from cracking. Hope this was helpful!

Good sized aluminum backed heat shield. It does not have an adhesive backing so you will need to plan on finding a way to attach it. Lightweight and flexible. Perfect for certain applications.
