Summary of the features6000 Counts auto-ranging digital multimeter with battery alligator clips test leads A/C, D/C Voltage, Voltage Alert, Amp/Ohm/Volt Multitester, diode and continuity test LED backlight LCD multiple ranges of tests for Voltage, Current, Resistance, Continuity, Capacitance, Frequency; Tests Diodes Transistors, Voltage tester.Wide range of applications, ideal for home and professional use, automotive, home and the industrial electrical troubleshootingMeasurement of A/C, D/C amps, A/C, D/C voltage, resistance, frequency, duty cycle, capacitance and continuity and diode testing, consists of all ranges, it beeps when digital multimeter close to measured object, if distant from the object, the beep sound will become weak.Battery assembling is relatively easy. Turn on the back cover and twist the back screw, install the battery and screw the battery cover back. This multimeter can perform all the test criteria; you will find all of the test criteria in this meter found on almost all the other known devices—for example, voltage and amperage, micro-amps, resistance and continuity, millivolts and frequency. There are also several other functions: Max/Min and average and a button (range). This button will make you select between auto-ranging and manual-ranging.While measuring current, you can measure its all ranges, which belongs to amperage, milliamps and microamps, and this is very useful for electricians and electronics engineers, especially for HVAC systems.Multimeter has a large display screen. This is the plus point; some brands models do not have this. The display is bright, and it has backlit. The box includes alligator clips to boot. The auto-off function is also a great feature to save battery life. Sometimes this function is irritating while working if you are busy with the work and the auto-off function shutting off within a few devices. The voltage alert function is a non-contact voltage detector. This function is available in most multimeters nowadays. This function is beneficial for technicians, and it quickly detects the voltage in a cord, but any outlet or switch. It can also detect from a distance range. However, the reading is not reliable. The multimeter is lightweight, rugged, and at the same time, a strong body. It has a hanger to hang it for hands-free working, which is quite helpful for professionals. The multimeter comes with a holster, helping in gripping and holding. It has two lead storage on the rear. A tilting bail is a valuable feature for hands-free. Testing probes have protective caps. The large Display Screen on this multimeter is brighter and contains backlit. Its Resolution is up to 6,000 counts.18B+ Key Functions:Minimum/Maximum function: It can measure high voltage readings and low voltage readings. This function is beneficial if you quickly monitor the changing high or low voltage and current or resistance readings in a circuit, and the readings because of this function are automatically updated.REL Button:This button represents the Relative mode, and this mode is beneficial to compare the reading you have on the screen while measuring and storing one previously, and you may compare them together. The relative mode is zero when used. And to obtain an accurate reading, subtract the resistance in the test probes.Range:There are two ranges in this multimeter; auto-range and manual-range. In auto-mode, the multimeter automatically selects the range, while manual-rang allows you to select an individual range that works quicker.Hold Button:This button helps to display a backlit button.Select Button:A multimeter can switch the test criteria while selecting dial position, such as D/C amps to A/C amps.Safety RatingThe category rating CAT-IV is at 600V. This safety rating lends the multimeter over-voltage protection of 8,000V.

Has most of the important features of the more expensive Fluke (cost more than $1k many years ago). However, the battery than comes with it seems to have expired. I hope the product is reliable, rugged and lasting.

Don't even debate it, just buy one. You will not regret getting this meter for this kind of money. (sub $45)Excellent for electronics use, will range down to 1 microvolts DC.Sampling speed could be better. But hey, dual display, 20000 counts I mean come on what else can you ask for. The build quality if very nice and sturdy. Nice materials and selector switch, one handed operation not an issue. The input protection is slightly above average for this price range. (dual HRC fuses) Buy these while you still can. It's a deal all right.

I have proper Fluke meters I use as a professional electrician and electronics repair tech, but I like having cheaper meters like this for the vehicle, the basement bench, etc. This 18B+ model is fantastic. First it's much larger than I expected. Most of these chinese meters are smaller than they appear in picture, this is a full size unit that has a nice heft to it and feels like it's decent quality. Next it is packed with useful features that are intuitive to use and work well. The leads and clips it came with are of reasonable quality. This is the first cheap meter that I wouldn't hesitate to use for mains voltages, but it's excellent for what i use it for which is testing and servicing musical equipment such as guitars and amplifiers. To sum up, in my opinion this is the best meter under $30 on Amazon, but It's probably better than many of the DMMs at twice the price.

I have an old twenty years plus Wavetek DM that is still functional but mostly left in a garage for auto related work. That one cost me over a Benjamin. Today modern digital multimeter (DM) is much cheaper and works much better. What is not to like. For those who are not familiar with using the DM my recommend is to google for user guide for Fluke or Wavetek or Agilent DM products. They are operated on the same principles but they have better user guides. The most important is to observe safety first. A current of 200mA can cause a severe injury. Above that can be deadly. Safety first is to never ground yourself while making a measurement on live circuit. Wear a plastic glove if possible. Don't wear loose clothes or wear anything that conductive to live circuit. Stay away from wet area or wet hand or feet. Tag in and tag out. That means if you work on a home electrical make sure to tag a breaker that you are working on and remove tagger when you are done. If you don't someone who might not know why it was turnoff and accidentally turn it back on while you are working on it. Someone fried you is no good neither frying yourself.Using the DM itself is pretty straight forward. The banana clip has booth to protect the metal from touching you if it were accidentally fell off the DM device. This can be deadly if that happened as I saw sometime the protective booth is removed or cut off to make it convenience to plug into the unit. Don't do it. The probe came with this item is not snug when plugged in. It is kind of want to fall off. Quality probe provides better fit. What I don't like is that the off switch is all the way to the right. It should be on the middle of the dial so I don't have to flip it from one end to another to turn it off. The battery cover is secured in place with two screws and I like to have no screw at all for convenience of taking out the battery when not in use. I don't use my DM often, so a battery left in a unit has a tendency to corrode the terminals. I like they provided a soft protective shell which is very convenience to store the probe. Kudo for that. All it all this is pretty good a product for the money. I wished I had this when I was younger when I had more time to tinker with electronics.
