With certain electronics, there are some items that you should always buy NEW.This digital tachometer is a helpful instrument/tool that can enhance your driving experience by means of displaying bright illumination at the crankshaft’s redline and it will help to prevent overload during extreme conditions. You’ll immediately be aware of the engine’s mechanical limits and can save it from catastrophic failure.Whether you win or lose a race, this device will help to make sure you can still drive your car home. Just mind your gauges, fluids, tires, etc.Purchased a “like new” unit and received a heavily used item that was missing the installation instructions, mounting hardware, and bonus stickers. Albeit its seemingly clean overall item appearance and fully intact manufacturers packaging, the attached bracket was completely covered in some kind of adhesive polymer and the painted surface was heavily blemished. This particular unit was more than likely previously purchased by an individual that was unwilling to properly or securely mount and install this digital tachometer onto their vehicle, so they temporarily “glued” it onto their steering column. Meanwhile, they likely did not use an inline fuse during installation and completely shorted the internal components, causing failure of internal components, rendering the module completely and irreparably useless. They then sent it back to Amazon for a full refund within the 30-day return window and the vendor reposted the unit with intact original packaging, but did not test the unit for operability.

I bought this as an addition to my 5" tach for the shift light. I expected to not like the digital readout. I ended up liking it enough to remove the 5" tach and just use this. It is easy to install, and set up. It looks good, however I find the mounting bracket being plastic a bit cheap looking. Overall, I am quite happy with it.

I have a swapped motor on my car. And tachometer doesn't keep up with the correct rpm. I Was skeptical about it since they are here for almost 40 dollars less than auto meter, but I received it (super fast shipping too) it is authentic and cheaper. Very happy with the results. shift ligth is perfect.

The bracket is plastic. The "features"--a tach-trigger shift light, and a digital readout of current RPMs--neither works. I have a very simple car with a coil. This should work correctly, right? Well, the number just jumps wildly around. So, apparently this is a common problem and Auto Meter recommends installing a 10k ohm resister inline with the signal wire. Well, that did absolutely nothing. So, without accuracy, this product is no better than your innacurate dashboard tach.

A true revolution to the old tach in your face tradition.This not only takes the place of the bigger tachs, but it has progressive lights for the shift point and a full digital readout if you want to see the rpm. It will clear a huge amount of gauge clutter by ridding you of a monster tach, plus you can keep your eyes on the road and not the tach. Thanks to the multi-colored super bright L.E.D.s.It's very easy to hook up and even easier to program it's features.This is great for bikes and cart's as well.We installed two of these, one in a drag car and the other in a road race car.Both driver swear they will never go back to a regular tach again.

A geat product for those who want an almost fool proof method of shifting at a certain RPM without having to keep an eye on the tach. Installation wasn't hard for the mechanically inclined. In fact, they didn't have installation instructions for my particular car, so I sent them a schematic of the ignititon system, and they sent it back marked with what needed to be done. You can buy cheaper lights, but they often need additional extra-cost bits to make the light shift at the RPM you want...add it all up and this costs about the same and is easy to program. If you want to see what's involved in an installation, and a demo of it in action, go on Youtube and do a search for "Ferrari 348 Shift Light Install".
