Aurifil is the only thread I quilt with. The best price I have found.

The label on the spool is correct, 1422 yards. Label on the packaging is WRONG... This is not a cone with 6452 yards. Seller needs to correct. Very annoying.

I use this thread for making quilts. It never breaks and is very consistent in quality. I can see why so many quilters recommend this thread. I buy just a couple of neutral colors in the large spools to save money. While it would be more interesting to have thread colors match or contrast with the piecing, I can't afford that. This large spool such last for a while!

Aurifil is the best premium thread for quilt piecing and machine top stitching. I was looking for white, but without the brightness of a stark, bleached white and without it being a very light shade of beige. ITS THE PERFECT SHADE OF OFF WHITE, as its a true white but without the harsh brightness, which is what I was looking for in order to blend in best for most lighter shade of fabric. For the price of this premium thread, I would expect the best in color choice, and it delivers. After years of using different brands of much cheaper 40 wt poly, I finally gave in and started using smooth Aurifil 50 wt. cotton for its strong and lint free thin thread. It also perfect for bobbins, as you get much more wound on one bobbin vs. a 40. wt poly. Ultimately, it will make a difference in the overall quality of your finished quilt. As far as my other big cones of Omni 40 wt poly (made by Superior at around the same size of around 6,000 meters for approx. $17), Omni is perfect for general utility sewing (bag, clothes, etc) as its very strong and sturdy and relatively lint free. I would strongly suggest getting at least 2 bobbin holding cases, one being labeled 40 wt. poly and the other one 50 wt. Aurifil. I hope this answers all the question regarding thread choice for all those who quilt, and all those who make bags or garments. Yes, you can use 40 wt. poly for all sewing (if on a budget), but its really worth the extra $$ for Aurifil 50 wt. when quilting. Also, buying the bigger AuriFil cones at 6000+ meters, its a lot more convenient and you get better deal.
