This is a nice vinyl record brush. Worth the money and easy to use. The only thing is it's designed for dry use only. You can't use it with a cleaning fluid. For that I still have a Discwather D3 brush.

There isn't much to these things... when I got this, I found it to be adequate. However, after handling a number of similar products by other manufacturers... I now can see why these cost a little more. It is better. The carbon fibers are denser and/or softer than all the others. I trust it on my vinyl. It also has nicer, heavier feel compared to others. A friend of mind had another brand... I was horrified when I touched it to the vinyl.. it was like a wire brush! Stick with these. They will serve you well.

The AudioQuest Anti-Static Record Brush is a substantial improvement in quality of build, density of bristles, and usefulness over my Pro-Ject carbon fiber brush. It is well worth the extra money. I keep the Pro-Ject brush just for initial cleaning of my used records before cleaning them in my Spin-Clean system which I also highly recommend.

This brush removes dust that I didn't even know was on my records - they are unbelievably free of pops and crackles now. The trick for me was in figuring out how to use it. You have to use it in a way that it will brush the dust off the side of the record. If you lift if off the record, it will leave a neat line of dust on the record right where you lifted it off the surface. Follow the directions, but make sure you ultimately move the brush off the side of the record. As the manufacturer states, "it is great at attracting dust, but not great at lifting it." Just keep that in mind and you'll be good to go.

First off, this doesn’t CLEAN your records, nor is it meant to. It’s purpose is to attract and remove DUST from records that are already clean. So…if your record is dirty, give it a bath man! No one likes a dirty record. Once your record is clean (the method is a different discussion), this brush will remove the dust that is on the playing surface and within its grooves. Typically, if you’re careful, you only need to clean a record once in a blue moon, but you will need to remove the dust before EVERY playing of it; this is the purpose of this brush. Before I purchased it, I would rid the record of its dust via a cleaning spray and the typical velvet material attached to a wooden handle. While this type of pre-play dusting/cleaning does work, I got tired of repeatedly purchasing the cleaning spray every couple of months or so. Enter the Audioquest Anti-static Record Brush:1) Grab a clean record and place it on your turntable.2) Shine a flashlight over the surface to see the dust.3) Use the brush as directed.4) Shine a flashlight over the record again to verify it’s dust free.5) Thank yourself for buying this jewel and reading this review. Now, toss the spray and velvet, order this brush, and go listen to some music man!

I’m new to the vinyl hobby so you can factor that in to this review if you’d like. Many of these brushes are said to remove static from records and I beloved that to be the case which is why I decided to buy this brush at double the cost of all the others. The fibers are supposed to conduct through to the special gold handle and send all the static to ground through the user. This process may prevent additional static build up during the brushing process - but it does NOT remove the static charge on a record. If a record has built up a charge - other methods such as wet cleaning or a zerostat gun will be required to remove it.After only a weeks worth of use - the good material is visibly worn away from both sides of the brush. It does a fine job of wiping the surface dust and debris from the record before playing, and distributes most of it on the plinth of my turntable. As noted by multiple other users, the bristle guard which is used to protect the brush and to knock the dust off after each use, disconnects and falls off very easily. This is very frustrating - especially for the price. I do not recommend this product - you can spend much less to accomplish the same task and buy a new record for what this brush costs.

We all have our methods for keeping our vinyl clean. I still use the trusted Spin Clean bath and also employ a Record Doctor V for some deep cleaning vacuum action (and when I'm too lazy to haul out the Spin Clean!). Both are great. However, I find the AudioQuest brush to be the perfect tool for giving the record a simple dust off just before laying the stylus down. When used properly, it works perfectly. Unlike some reviewers, I've not had a problem with static build up. But I have to emphasize again that proper use will yield the best results. Several rotations over a spinning record (while on the turntable, that is), with a light touch. You should not be "bending" the fibres. And make sure your fingers are on the gold part of the handle. Then gently rotate the brush counterclockwise until you reach the edge of the record. A gentle lift and you're done. Takes practice, but it really does work. I will agree with some that the handle could have been better attached to the brush as it can come off quite easily.

As an audiophile for many years, I have used practically every anti-static record brush available on the market. This is really not any different from the rest except for the fact that the "gold" portion on the handle is supposed to provide a grounding for static buildup when held by fingers. I have no way of measuring this claim, and neither do the results after use produce any superior performance. IMO if you must buy one, don't expect anything more than what any of the others can do, except for it's rather handsome looks.
