This unit is terrible. Software does not recognize when it’s plugged in when plugging directly to USB-C. It says it needs more power on the occasion I got it to work. I had a crackling issue that I could not get rid of despite following many recommendations on the Internet I’m sending this thing back.

It's well made with an Apple-quality formed metal chassis and smooth pots with circular LED volume indicators surrounding the shaft of the pot. There's nothing cheap about it. Looks like it belongs in a studio. Never owned one of these before and just exploring. The software has a variety of modeled amps with very clean sound. And the nasty sound is super clean too. I'm happy.

This model had all the features I needed, but I found the headphone volume too low. It was almost acceptable with 32ohm headphones, but really unacceptable with 80ohm studio headphones. I did not try higher impedance but it should be even worse.While for just listening to music the headphone volume is probably OK, sometimes when analyzing audio you need to at least temporarily listen at higher volume, for example to see what's going on during low level parts of a recording, when testing an instrument, etc.I ended up returning it and ordering a 4i4 instead. By the specs you can see headphone output is better on the 4i4 (lower impedance, more power) and the 4i4 is definitely loud enough for 80ohms headphones and more than enough for lower impedance. The 4i4 comes with a power supply, I ended up not using it but I had to use a different USB cable (C to C) for it to draw the necessary power from the computer.I did try adding a power supply to the 2i2 (it does have an input for that) but it did not solve the volume problem, apparently it's just a limitation on the hardware. Sad, because it's an amazing little interface. I also checked the solo specs and it looks like it has the same headphone specs than the 2i2, so it's also probably not a good choice if you care about this issue (but I did not test that).
