This set is an outstanding value and that was the deciding factor on the purchase. Many of the focal length eyepieces I wanted were in this set and on average they were $40 to $50 each with Barlow lenses about the same. To buy all of them individually and then add a case it was going to be close to $300 and that did not include any filters that are a $78.00 bonus in this set. The Plossl style eyepieces seem to be the "go to" design now and they do provide very nice views. The choice of focal lengths of the eyepieces included will give most telescopes all the different powers needed for planets and deep sky objects as well. The included Barlow lens (it will double the eyepiece powers) will give the viewer 10 total powers from the 5 included eyepieces. The actual magnification each eyepiece will provide is dependent upon the focal length of your telescope. This set will be used on a vintage Celestron C4.5 which has a focal length of 900MM. If you divide the telescope Focal Length by the Eyepiece Focal Length you will get the magnification power of each eyepiece. For example the 32MM focal length eyepiece will give a very nice wide field view low power of 28X (900 / 32 = 28) Low power is great to help with finding objects and centering them before switching to higher power eyepieces. One disappointing thing was the filters are numbered and look like excellent quality there is no included documentation to specify what each filter does. (In the past I have only owned a Moon filter to cut the brightness when looking at the Moon). A quick web search brought up this info for the filters included. No. 12 is a yellow filter for Mars, No. 21 is an orange filter for the Moon and Mercury, No. 25 is a red filter for Venus and Mars, No. 56 is a light green filter for Mars, No. 58 is a green filter also for Mars, No. 80A is a blue filter for the Moon, Jupiter and Saturn, and the 7th filter No. ND96-0.9 is for the Moon and the planets. I have yet to try all the filters. The ND96-0.9 is for the Moon and the planets did cut the glare from the moon down to a nice comfortable view. The well padded and constructed case had metal corner guards and a heavy plastic handle well riveted into the case. It should hold up very well. There are extra cutouts for a few additional eyepieces should you purchase more at a later date. I can recommend this eyepiece set for both beginners and seasoned users. 4 Stars

I got my wife a telescope for Christmas and she loves it. I've been picking up accessories--filters, eyepieces, etc.--here and there but when I saw this I had to order it. It has a ton of different accessories--like more than a dozen filters and eyepieces--and that lets her try out different ones. On top of everything, the case it comes in is very nice and does a great job protecting the glass items inside. If she ever gets bored with her telescope I'm totally going to swipe this case for my own uses. All in all, a nice 'all in one' starter accessory kit. Highly recommended!

I am very pleased with this eyepiece kit. With the amount of items included in the kit, it's an excellent deal. The case is sturdy, well-padded inside, comes with two keys, and I like the layout. Also, there are 2 extra holes for placing extra eyepieces. This came in handy, because the Meade EXT-125 Explorer telescope that I purchased came with 2 eyepieces, and the extra holes allow me to store those eyepieces in the kit too. With all that you get with this kit, it's a great kit for beginners. When I got the kit, a couple of the eyepieces were out of their slots and loose in the case; however, due to the excellent two-sided padding inside of the case, none of them were damaged. Since I believe that the loose eyepieces were caused by rough handling during shipping, I didn't hold it against the supplier and gave the item 5 stars.

Only 3 stars because it was all out of place when i opened the case for the first time. The box wasnt damaged so i dont know what happened anyway not good. The eye pieces are metal and were alot better than i was expecting. I have a 4.5 in reflector and can see everything clearly. filters are good but i think my scopes a little small for them. but did see saturns clouds with the red one. Barlow works well with my 20mm erecting eyepiece. pretty happy with it for the price. I doubt Orion brand eyepieces are any better.

When I received the kit I was amazed how heavy it was... not in a bad way... The construction of the case is solid and sturdy, with lockable hasp closures. Opening the case showed a foam interior custom cut to hold all of the plossl eyepieces, the 2X barlow and filters. There are a couple of holes left over for my older eyepieces which is a great feature most of the other kits from other manufacturers do not have.Due to the condition of the skies and my work schedule I haven't been able to use the eyepieces or the barlow; but I will say the feel of each of them is solid and the appearance is good. However, the eyecups are made of a material that I do not like; it is not the soft kind of rubber... the feel is more of a rigid rubber that I would like to replace. This is why I gave the review 4 stars and not 5.All in all, a great value for the cost. I definitely recommend others to buy this kit!
