A great addition for skywatching. Addition to my telescope is much better than a 45 degree when observing plants. Good value.

Arrived in a well padded package and within the estimated shipping dates. Fantastic Optical Prism! Works well with my Meade Refractor telescope. Corrects the left/right up/down perspective. Of course, in Space, there seemingly is no left/right or up/down, but for my earthly eyes, I like a view that corrects the left/right and up/down perspective, and this little gem does the trick!

Almost all my other 1.25" barrel 'correct-image' 90d diagonals have a SMALL Amici prism, which vignettes the field and dims the view with longer FL eyepieces. This one is better made, with nearly the same available field as the barrel diameter; so it works MUCH better. Could not be more pleased! What *does* bother me is the odd disparity of some other reviews of the same item. (I was the Product Development manager at perhaps the largest US telescope accessory retailer/marketer, with 60+ years' experience in amateur astronomy.) MY copy of this Astromania diagonal is NOT 'dimmer' than a mirror unit, as claimed by another party. I have tested it against two name-brand standard aluminized 1.25" mirror star diagonals, and this Astromania prism diagonal seems to be as bright--in fact, it was noticeably brighter than one, and the equal brightness of the other. Did we get the same product?Furthermore, after closely examing my unit's prism under exactly the right angle of broadband light, I can clearly discern an anti-reflection overcoating; the other reviewer says there was NONE, contrary to the ad. Not so in my case.He objected to spurious reflections (which I also do not see) and says that the eyepiece-side should be masked. My unit IS masked. So I have confidence that my eyes did NOT deceive me; and I have no reason to change my top 5-star rate.

I'm sure this part would work great if I initially had the missing part/attachment which the telescope company, Heketan, failed to include in the box when I purchased the telescope of which now, is an unusable telescope, as is the extra parts I purchased in hopes of remedying this situation myself, since Heketan never responed to me regarding my $220+ purchasee from them. I still cannot use the telescope, and wasted more $$ attempting to buy parts for the Heketan Telescope, which I found after receiving them, didn't work. More wasted $$ on useless parts. Biggest waste was buying from Heketan Telescopes. Not a good Christams gift to purchase for someone, unless you want dissapointment as I've experienced. Anyone need an expensive paperweight?

I can find nothing wrong with its optical quality.

I purchased this because the refractor on my new telescope was having too much glare. This one has less glare and a clearer view. Visuals are right side up, left and right. 1.25. Nice tightening screw. Doesn’t feel cheap. Has a nice weight to it.

I originally panned this diagonal over the lack of a compression band, and that is a problem. But, having read horrible things about amici prisms I bought this largely just to test it out. Well, after months of matching it against my 99% two inch diagonal, and searching in vain for the dreaded roof prism line on the brightest stars in the sky up to 200X in an F/9 100ED refractor I have to admit, I haven't had any problems. It has equal contrast and brightness to my expensive two inch diagonal and I cannot find the spikes which should come from an amici prism. Maybe I just lucked out, my longer ED may be better with an amici or this eyepiece is a lot better than it should be. Another possibility is that folks that complain about high power abberations in amici are pushing mags past any reasonable level or have scopes well beyond my aperature. In any case, it works great and correct image is a nice relief. Now, if only they had put a compression band in it.
