Astro makes great tools. And this one is good... but it doesn't work in smaller than impact gun areas. Like the astro 1831 or the capri palm impact does. Returning for the fact of not filling the roll i needed it to... which the 1831 did. 4*s because it's a great tool but not so effective at what you want a palm impact for....hyper limited room to access bolt/nut.

Got this after seeing good reviews online for the tool. I've got a small compressor (2 gallon + 7 gallon auxiliary tank), so I don't have a ton of air to run air tools for long durations. However, this setup with a small-ish air impact works well for general tasks, like brakes and small fasteners. I'm quite happy with the impact, partly due to the flex head being able to reach a lot of areas a normal impact wouldn't, and for the reasonable power it provides. I do wish this tool had a bit more variability in power, but otherwise, it's been fine as an on/off switch type tool.Overall, I'd highly recommend, especially when it drops to ninety-ish in price.

I am a GM dealership tech. I use this little impact all the time for a variety of tasks. The flexible head makes it really good for fitting in some tight spaces, however for a number of common tasks the power level just isn't there. For instance: this impact is great for installing side steps on new trucks, and does a fantastic job of caliper bolts. It does not handle caliper bracket bolts well at all (the factory thread locker is just too much), it can struggle with tierod end bolts and swaybar link bolts as well. I think of it more like a really big air ratchet than a small impact gun. Good tool overall.

This tool is part of my collection and while not the strongest it will take out lug nuts without much struggle. It’s designed to fit in hard to reach places and it does it great. I use this tool for break jobs it’s perfect to get behind the caliper and get those caliper bolts off/on

My consistent go to for smaller work areas that my large impact gun can't access. Love the movable trigger and being able to angle the head. Great tool.

I purchased this tool to help with changing out my wheels. I have been doing the same job with a corded 1/2" Mastercraft impact wrench for years. I should have purchased this air tool a long time ago! Stronger, faster, lighter and the fact it can 'flex' will be a bonus when I have to get into tight spaces.

It is MUCH better than Milwaukee m12 series impacts and it has PERFECT spot reach capability unlike solid body impacts. STRONGLY recommended! The only drama is weight if you have any tendon, joint, muscle etc. issues it may be hard to operate for long hours other than that it worths the money. Combine this with u joint swivel impact adapters and literally can access everywhere.

This may be the impact tool that you want, when most normal impact wrenches won't fit because of depth.Designed for brake work. But useful for many other purposes. The handle can be flexted/bent to clear obstructions. There is also a 1/2" version. I went with the 3/8" because 3/8" sockets are often shorter than 1/2" sockets and tight spaces are the reason for buying this too.Astro Pneumatics also makes some special, low depth impact sockets, which I plan to get a few english and metric sets of, as soon as I see a good enough sale price. While the tool is very low depth, with the handle, etc. it isn't otherwise smaller or lighter or lighter than some other impact wrenches. At 400 ft/lbs. the torque isn't particularly high. These are the trade-offs for making it small enough to fit in close clearance areas. For tight areas, you may also want to consider the model 1831, which is a bit thicker, but may work in some areas where the handle on the 1833 still gets in the way, even after flexing the handle. It also has a bit more torque at 445 ft/lb.

I was a little skeptical about the power and function of the tool. After reading a few reviews that mentioned that it needed more power and was not what it was meant for, got me guessing if I should buy it. I need something to make jobs easier and faster as I'm a flat rate mechanic and for me time it's money. If I can save 5 to10 mins per job with this tool, it would pay for it self in no time. So I decided to give it a try. So far I was able to remove transmission bolts and caliper brake bolts (torqued to about, im guessing, at least 150 foot punds of torque), axle bolts in less time and without switching to a different tool. In my own opinion it's pretty strong for several kinds of jobs, can't expect to remove all bolts for me so far its great! When used to tighten caliper bracket bolts I measured with torque wrench at about 150 ft lbs and still would have tighten a bit more with the impact tool. A few more uses and it would pay for itself! ;-)
