Love this compact rice cooker with the stainless inner bowl. The upper steam tray is very useful and handy. The overall cook time for 3 cups of rice is about 20 minutes. The initial burnt smell went away after one use. Also, I love the simplicity of this rice cooker. To avoid rice sticking to the bottom of the stainless bowl, do use a few drops of olive oil!

This Aroma Housewares 14-Cup (Cooked) / 3Qt. Select Stainless Pot-Style Rice Cooker, & Food Steamer is absolutely Fantastic! I paid a bit more for it than other rice steamers, but the product quality is well worth it! I prefer not to use pots or pans with aluminum, Teflon, or "no stick" chemicals. I will only use stainless steel. This is a full five star value. The stainless steel is very shiny and smooth, and, it's very easy to clean, no sticking, but, also, no chemical coatings. The steel is 100% food-grade 304 stainless steel, the steamer pot is heavier than aluminum, it will last a lifetime. It also comes with a vegetable steamer, which can go over the rice pot. I love the fact that the cover-lid is glass. I probably don't need a 14 cup rice cooker, but it's good to have the larger capacity anyways, just in case I need to do extra for friends and family!

Received before promised delivery date but box was delivered to my neighbor in two block away (while this neighbor's amazon shipment being delivered to my door!). I must praise Amazon's shipper who put the original packing in Amazon's box as requested that avoids possible scratches and dent. The item arrives in very good conditions, brand new and no scratch & dent. Comes with everything as described. it claims its (thicker) cooking pot is made of 304 stainless steel but I can't find any engraved letters on it to confirm this. The steamer (thinner/lighter) also in stainless steel. The power cord is a bit too short and the cord is not easy to be straighten. The whole set is very light weight so make sure you place it away from table's edge to avoid accidental fall. I buy this to replace my old Taiwan rice cooker (a new one at its size would cost C$180+) to use as steamer. To test I add 300mL water onto the cooking pot then power up the unit by pressing its COOK (amber color) button. When the water being fully evaporated I heard a click and noted the unit changed to WARM (yellow) light by itself. Overall it works perfectly as advertised and price is decent to affordable. Too early to evaluate its durability but I am very happy with this simple and basic unit and would recommend to other people looking for a simple rice cooker of this size.

We purchase this specifically because of the stainless steel as we are swapping out all the components in the kitchen with non stick. This cooker works great. Perfect for family style cooking and very easy to clean.

I looked long and hard for a stainless steel rice cooker; I’m eliminating all forever chemicals from my kitchen. I stumbled across this one and am so glad I did. Not only does it work well, it’s big enough for a family of six.I read that it was hard to clean, but it’s as easy to clean as my old nonstick rice cooker. It’s designed for idiots….with just one button you can’t mess it up even if you try. It’s so easy to use, cooks quickly and makes perfect rice. You really can’t go wrong with this quality rice cooker. It comes with a veggie steaming insert that is also stainless steel. I haven’t used it yet, it’s not really my thing but it’s a nice option and makes it quite versatile.I would absolutely buy it again and recommend it to others.

The 14-cup stainless steel rice cooker has been a fantastic addition to my kitchen. Its large capacity is perfect for family gatherings and meal prepping, consistently delivering perfectly cooked, fluffy rice. The sleek stainless steel exterior adds a modern touch and ensures durability. The user-friendly controls and clear display make it incredibly easy to operate, while the keep-warm function maintains the rice at an ideal temperature until serving. Cleaning is a breeze with the non-stick inner pot. This rice cooker is reliable, efficient, and a must-have for any kitchen. Highly recommended!

I grew up with Tiger basic rice cooker -- those are fantastic machines. I am now a mom and needed a new machine, purchased a smaller one similar to what my mom used, but the quality control was terrible (the cooking pot rim was crooked and sharp). I've tried Zoji Neuro Fuzzy but wasn't impressed that the bowl scratched within a few uses (always used plastic spatula that came with the machine and handwashed with soft cloth) and the rice wasn't that special. I then tried a cuckoo micom which was great! It cooked better than the zoji at half the price, but customer service told me that the battery will last about 3 years and once it dies, the machine needs to be serviced to put in a new battery in order for the cooker to work properly. I then dived into some research about best cookers out there and came across information that made me realize I want a stainless steel cooker to phase out "forever chemicals" in my home. So, I got a Buffalo rice cooker, but it took way too long to cook rice. Jasmine rice took 45-60 minutes. Brown rice took over 3 hours and the end result was awful. Took a chance on this humble Aroma 14 cup Select Stainless with steam tray.--PROS:- fast, cooks 2 cups of jasmine rice in 20 minutes- steam tray is very convenient. I steam frozen dumpling while I make rice and that makes for a quick meal with a side of soy sauce/vinegar/sugar/sesame oil/water dipping sauce.- compact- easy to clean-- the inner pot, the lid are dishwasher safe (I always hand-wash though)- no ink printed on the inner pot so I don't have to worry about that getting ink into my food.-inner pot is stainless steel, the glass lid has screws that are metal, the plastic handle is on the surface opposite side of glass that is against the food.CONS (and solutions):- it sticks, real bad, you lose rice, and you lose time to scrub that off. (As soon as the switch clicks from cooking to keep warm, UNPLUG the unit, and with mits/ towel, ever so carefully REMOVE the inner pot with lid on it to a different surface to cool for 15 minutes. I put mine on my concrete counter top, but you can rest on a kitchen pad, your stove top, etc. AFTER 15 minutes, carefully remove the lid. There will be steam. Fluff your rice.)- it boils over (Always WASH RICE before you cook it. Use your hands to vigorously shake and agitate the rice grains under running water and empty the water, repeat until rice water is less cloudy. It won't be clear, but it'll be less cloudy. USE THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF WATER. TWO cups (the cup that came with the machine is approx 3/4 cup or 180 ml) of white rice and fill the water to the 2 line (you must cook minimum 2 cups in the 14 cup machine), etc. Follow directions for brown rice in the manual).- uneven cooking (Keep your rice cooker clean, especially the heating element. ALWAYS dry the outside of the inner pot before you place it in the rice cooker. Water or food bits on the outside of the inner pan will contact the cooking element causing burn marks and uneven cooking because it affects the conduction of heat). To make the rice extra fluffy, once you have cleaned and added the correct amount of liquid, let it sit for 30 minutes in the pot then push the cook button. This is why micom cookers take longer--it gives the rice time to soak, then it cooks, then it cools down before it give you the beep to know rice is ready. But some machines, such as the Buffalo, takes way too long.It is a simple machine that works fairly well.I'm looking forward to Aroma one day making a MICOM rice cooker with stainless steel inner bowl and stainless inner lid. Ideally it'd have a "quick" cook function with steam option, including a stainless steel steam tray. I don't understand why anyone would want to put plastic steam trays in their rice cookers. Anyway, I'd be the first to purchase it. Hint hint Aroma, there are many out there like me ready for this product. Bring it!

PROS - I like that it's stainless steel and I'm not worried about the coating peeling off and getting into my food. I cook rice 1-2x a week and it never stuck to the bottom. I'm not too worried about it too because I can just scrub it. Steamer attachment is also stainless steel and I use it occasionally.CONS - Why is this so much more expensive. And, I don't know why, but there are discolorations at the bottom. Hasn't made any difference but just not great to look at.

Thai product did not cookThe rice right since the first time I used it. Unfortunately I don’t cook rice as often in a rice cooker so I didn’t realize it was a product issue until it was too late and now I can’t return it anymore. The first time rice overcooked and it was mushy. Second time it was undercooked. I tried the trouble shooting but that didn’t work either. And this all happened while using their own recipe instructions. I also tried using less water and more when undercooked. Still no luck. So come to find out that the cook and warm button actually doesn’t work. I prepared my rice again, measure everything right., proceded to put the pot in the rice cooker and then press down the cooking button. I stayed in the kitchen watching the rice cooker. Within a few mins the cooking button popped up to warm and stop cooking. The rice was not cooked and a lot of water was still there. I tried pushing the button back down to cook but it continued to popped up. Wish the return policy on this was more than just one month but unfortunately it seems that I’ve lost my money on a defective product. Will not recommend at all. DO NOT BUY IT!!
