I love having this kind of connector on hand because one can customize the length of the wire lead very easily. In the past I would have to solder on my own leads and do the shrink wrap to protect it, a three step process; strip, solder, shrink wrap. Now, it is too easy to just pinch on one of these connectors and then pinch the wire lead in place....it takes only a few seconds. There are only two negatives. 1. These bite into the contact area of the light strip making it somewhat of a "one time use"......for the contact area of the light strip....however, if you are careful you can change the bite location slightly and have good contact. Other options are to use the other end of the strip or cut the strip to the next set of contacts. So far this hasn't really been a problem for me and have made good contact 99% of the time. 2. These are bulkier than the pre-made leads, about double in thickness. Despite that I think they are invaluable as I'm always making custom lead wires and jumpers for my installs and the benefits very much outweigh the negatives. The best part is that these are a time saver and there is no worry of having a hot soldering iron drop on someone's carpet, set off a smoke alarm, using it in tight spaces, or when working in a home where there may be kids or pets roaming around.

They work! Don’t bother with the screw type. It snaps down on the wires and holds securely. No need to strip the wire. Little prong punch the wires for contact. Plus the rep at Armacost was very helpful.

I bought the Armacost LED light strips and these connectors thinking to use them together to make my under the cabinet strip runs. Buying these connectors was a big mistake. I want to caution others from making the same mistake. The connectors that come with the Armacost LED light strips (there are only 2) work by pressure fit. The tape slides under 2 small metal "fingers" and when the connector snaps shut the connection is solid. That connection can be snapped open with a small screwdriver if necessary. These connectors, on the other hand, work by using small metal "fangs" that bite into the tape strip and wire to make a connection. If you snap them closed and they bit properly then you are good to go. However, if the connection was not properly made - for whatever reason - and you want to open them up and try again you will probably end up destroying the copper connection pads on the LED light strip as did I.First, it is almost impossible to use a small flat-head screw driver to open up the connector. There is no easy way to slot into the connector. Secondly, if you are able to open the connection by brute force, you will find the force used will tear the LED light strip tape. Now the copper connection pads are almost useless and shredded. The only recourse is to cut off that section and shorten the LED light strip tape and start over.If you are lucky then these may work for you. If you are unlucky, like me, then you will end up destroying your LED light strip tape trying to make a good connection.Avoid these connectors. Buyer beware.
