These things were great when removing my old clutch fan off if my 2005 bmw 325i. Let me tell you, I beat the hell out of these with a hammer to get that fan loosened and they took it with ease. The one issue is that in order to access the bolts, I had to bend the tool for more clearance, however I'm sure this wouldn't be an issue in every case, so still 5 stars overall.

It got the job done. I was able to loosen the fan clutch from the water pump with surprisingly little force. As others have said, I was only able to get one bolt head into one of the holes on the "clutch holding tool", but that was enough. Rotating the water pump 90 degrees did not help. The fan has probably been removed in 6 years.The wrench was stamped from 6 mm (0.23 inch) thick steel and has a decent chrome coating. The wrench opening was very tight on the rusty fan nut. I was able to slowly wiggle it over the rust. I got out my dial calipers and measured the opening at the end of the wrench as 31.8 mm and it was wider deeper into the wrench. I used a file to clean up some of the burrs at the opening and it now works fine. The primary advantage of these tools was the long length of about 385 mm (15 inch).

some say the water pump holder doesn’t fit on a e46 but it definitely does! you might just have to rotate the water pump a couple times and try using it at different angles but eventually you’ll find that it does work. definitely buy this one over the cheaper options it’s a lot more sturdy and didn’t feel like it was going to bend/break.

Fit my 2000 BMW Z3 water pump perfectly. I had to order this twice (first time got lost in shipping - they quickly gave credit). The tools are somewhat sturdy (not too flimsy). I'm disappointed I needed to buy these and will likely only need them this one time, but they certainly made the job easy. None of the auto-parts stores "loaner tools" had the 32MM size.

I have 2003 BMW 325i. As far as material goes, it’s good enough for DIY jobs. The only thing i don’t like is that the holes didn’t align with my water pump bolts, but i figured out a way to use it effectivly.

Worked good removing that pesky fan hub nut. The Hub "holding" tool was completly useless onmy application as it needs about a 20 or 30 degree angle bend a few inches up from the businessend of the tool.I'll mess with it more next spring when I change the water pump and such.You don't really need the holding tool as a couple whacks with a hammer on the end of thewrench handle loosens the nut easily.Left handed threads torqued to probably only 15 or 20ft lbs so comes off real easy.Decent tool that will get more use!

I used it for what it was designed for and it works well but it would work a bit better if the Water Pump Holder was slightly off set and not straight at each end

Had to take off the fan on my BMW 530i and spent a little extra to get this. It is well made and I think the low ratings may have been from people who did not know how to use them properly. Remember the fan is a left hand thread, The water pump wrench worked OK, did not line up perfect but still worked in my application and I am pleased to have something I can use again in the future.

I am a mechanic with a shop. This is a solid professional automotive tool just as good as anything on the tool trucks. If you use this correctly it should last a life time. I spent the extra money for this item after seeing mixed reviews on cheaper similar items. I dont know if those others arent as strong or thick or if the people were using it wrong but I had no trouble the first time I used it. The fan threads are left hand thread so you turn backwards to unscrew. That may be first mistake people make. Every car I ever took a fan off was back wards threads. Also holder tool is somewhat universal for different cars. You do not need to get bolt heads in 2 holes to hold it. My car I got 1 bolt head in one hole and then pried against the other bolt head when taking fan off and putting it back on. Worked real easy if you know what you are doing. Carry pouch and rubber handle were real nice too! Nice emails from seller asking if it worked for me! Quick reply to email I sent seller. If you have trouble using it contact seller and I am sure they will do whatever to help you!
