I purchased and recommend the Heavy Duty version of this Ares brake pads spreader rather than the standard version. Easy to use. It functioned very well and exactly as expected to compress the brake caliper piston when I used it for brake pads replacement. The Ares Heavy Duty brake pads spreader seems to also have a solid build quality. The thickness of the spreader plate and jackscrew on the tool compresses the brake caliper piston with ease and without any bending of the tool. But I suggest using one of the removed, old brake pads in conjunction with this brake pads spreader tool to aid in fully compressing and reseating / retracting the brake caliper piston. The threaded shaft of this spreader tool is not quite long enough to reach into the brake caliper piston well to fully compress or reseat / retract the caliper piston, so using one of the removed, old brake pads in conjunction with this tool will help to do so.

Been using at work for a while now, I bent the end a little bit cause the metal is a bit thin, or maybe a dual piston caliper is asking to much of this. But it ain’t broke yet and I still use

I like this product a lot. A fifth of the cost of the tool truck variant. Only thing you will wanna get is a 3/4" or 19mm reversible ratcheting combo wrench.

I used this tool for the rear brakes on a 2018 Mazda CX-5 AFTER putting the vehicle in Service/Maintenance Mode. It worked perfectly. It compressed the caliper pistons with ease.

This tool will easily outlast me. The only way to break this tool is if your caliper is seized because you have never changed your brake fluid, in which case that is on you. Don’t break the tool trying to move a piston that has welded itself to the caliper. You will still need a new caliper if you are looking at a seized caliper. If money is tight, a C-clamp or a big pair of channel locks and maybe an extra pair of hands will do the same thing as this tool. This tool is just a convenience. Also, this tool is for a floating caliper, with just one piston, which is every car I have ever owned. If you have a fixed caliper, with an even number of pistons, you need a spreader that slides between the pistons and unsandwiches itself to open the pistons on both sides of the caliper.

Works just fine, if you have trouble turning your caliper piston back in with this then it's seized, plain and simple.

This thing makes compressing disc brake caliper Pistons so much easier! I don't know why I didn't buy one of these years ago. Totally worth the price. Perfect size for Ram 2500 calipers, and if the caliper Pistons are sticky there's a nut on the end of the tool you can put a wrench to, bam!
