Ok, I’m not 100% certain this was the only thing that helped. But, when I started to get that twingy feeling & then the shooting pain, I put about a tablespoon on my low back spine. I placed a damp cotton bread cloth over the poultice. I tucked the bottom of the cloth in my undies & smoothed the top of the cloth under my shirt to prevent the dry product debris from getting in my bed. With 2 days pain subsided. I did have one muscle relaxer at night, but they give me a headache & make me sleepy so I can’t take them often. I keep the poultice on hand for ankles sprains & I have a relative who gets gout symptoms, cleared his swelling & pain in 2 days. Not medical advice, just sharing my experience.Definitely use a glove

...also reduces swelling. Stops the burn and/or itching in just a few short minutes. Reapply when it starts hurting/itching again, that's usually when it has dried. Reapply as needed when it flakes off. As far as I know, for stings it works best if you weren't born with a fur coat or hooves. We always clean the area thoroughly alcohol before and after poultice use. Works on wasp and bee stings. Doesn't work on mosquito bites.Tightly cover the top of the "clay" inside of its container (add a few drops of water first if needed) with kitchen plastic wrap and the "clay" will remain viable until you use it up.

Nothing takes the sting out of my mares hooves like this. Not super sticky & hard to clean up like Magic Cushion (though I do like MC) but this one just seems to give her more relief.

Dealing with an older horse with suspensory problems- combination of magnetic boots and this product helped him get back to work. Fingers crossed.
