I bought he same brand and model nearly 20 years ago. It withstood northern Michigan winters and snow plows. After years of exposure to the weather, it developed a gray tint. A coat of black paint took care of that. I finally decided to renew the post and bought the same box again. Good value and quality for the price.

This wide mailbox fits many packages too large for a standard box. I am constantly surprised with packages I would expect to show up on my doorstep. The red flag stays up when needed. I turned the yellow flag towards the house. It's so nice to know there is nothing in the mailbox so I don't waste a walk out there. Conversely I know the mail showed up when I'm expecting something. On occasion the mailman does not close the door, but this is rare, and he did the same with my old mailbox. After about a year, I'm not so worried about sun exposure. This box has weathered well in full Florida sun.

Our old mailbox was plastic and finally fell apart. I purchased this one to replace it. It is much larger than the old one so Amazon packages of medium size can now be left in the mailbox. A bonus feature that I did not realize it even had until after I bought it was a little flag that will let you know when the mail has come. This is separate from the flag to indicate you have mail waiting to be picked up. This is a smaller yellow flag that you can easily look at and tell if the lid has been opened by the mail person. It is a bit flimsy, but works well so far.

I replaced an old worn out smaller mailbox with this one. Install was a breeze with two (up to four) screws on each side into a 5 inch wide board making it very secure.I like the design, hoping the front door latch stays tight over time, will see. The flag to know if the mail has come today is great, easy to see and operate. The size is great, allowing for larger packages than before. Durability seems good, time will tell.The only con so far is that it gets hotter in the sun than our old metal mailbox and smells a bit, but that doesn't worry me much. Will see in the hotter months if it matters.Overall, I think it's a great deal as it was $14 more at a big box store and is just what I wanted.

I have used this mailbox and one identical for the past 20 years. Although my current box is very serviceable, the wife thinks this exact replacement will be more attractive. I clear-coat my mailbox before installing to protect it from the damaging sun and it keeps its luster much longer. Don't clear-coat the numbers...install afterwards. There are two things we really appreciate: 1) the larger size accomodates most larger packages we receive and 2) the pop-up flag visually enables us to know when mail has arrived...the flag will fit on either side of the mailbox for your viewing convenience. That feature has saved me many needless steps!

Overall a nice mailbox - wider size without being too tall/huge. The ridge in front around where the numbers can be placed definitely needs resized. It's slightly under 2", so the biggest numbers you can put there are 1.5" which are hard to find and also not as visible. Took a star off for this.It's nice that you can mount directly on a 4 x 4 post, or on a 6" wide piece of wood (or their custom plate). But the way the bottom is designed, if you're mounting on a wider piece of wood than a 4 x 4, the mailbox sides only go down about 1/2" (until the box rests on the 4 x 4 mount) so the holes are pretty close to the top of the wood. (The wider mounting option seems to be made only for their plate.) I could still use it with my old setup, but the wood shows under the bottom edge of the mailbox 1/4 inch all around because I had a piece of 1 x 6 which is 3/4 inch thick.Painting - I wanted a dark brown, not black, so cleaned it well with alcohol and sprayed with Rustoleum 2x which is supposed to be for plastic and paint + primer in one. Major fail - it flaked off pretty easily when touched.I ended up power washing all that paint off then sanding the box very well. Then I primed with the 2x primer (not paint + primer) which adhered much better. I painted with some latex paint a couple days later. (The 2x paint/primer in satin was shinier than I liked so I didn't use it.)

I finally had to replace my mailbox after it had been hit my a snow plow several times. The one I had before was this same one just way older. Was here for many many years even before I moved in. Looked gray though from all the sun fading. So they last a very long time!! And the snow plow didn't actually break it either. I accidentally broke the flag off because it was frozen and I'm impatient. Anyways!I had to trim a little excess plastic on the bottom to get it to fit on the same mount and pole set up I had, otherwise installation was a breeze. My old version didn't have the yellow flag for the mailman to use. And I honestly didn't even think my mailman would use it to let me know I had mail... but he did! So I'm really enjoying the whole thing. No more wasted trips down my long driveway to the mailbox to see if I have mail. I love the size! Fits multiple smaller packages or even a couple decent size ones. Fits all my needs and seems even sturdier than my old one, so I know it will last a loooong, long time.
