About this item

  • SUPERIOR SOUND: New Nylgut strings deliver better tone than traditional nylon or PVDF.
  • GUT-LIKE TONE: Sweet, smooth sound with an excellent player feel.
  • STABLE TUNING: Moisture-resistant composite material ensures consistent tuning.
  • For Guilele

The world's most renowned ukulele string maker introduces new Nylgut ukulele strings and is Aquila's first product to be developed in house to be its own proprietary design. Nylgut strings were developed by blending three different synthetic components to make a composite material that sounds better and stays in tune better than standard nylon strings, but with the feel and playability of genuine gut. An added feature of this exclusive composite material is that is was designed to absorb less moisture than other strings; which greatly improves intonation and tuning accuracy. Compared to standard Nylon strings, New Nylgut strings have a density similar to gut, but provide san even more refined sound; eliminating the characteristic metallic-like tones often found in other synthetic designs. For the best sounding synthetic gut string for ukuleles, that still gives the player the feel of genuine gut, Aquila New Nylgut are the perfect choice!

It could be how the strings were designed I'm not 100% sure but they are a lot more dull and dampered than the strings that came with my instrument. They seem pretty nice though otherwise and I can still play all the songs I want to and it doesn't sound like garbage. Only time will tell if these are actually good strings but I think they're pretty decent. The tone is probably designed. I just didn't read the listing correctly or something. Either way I'm probably just going to have to go to a real store with real human beings and use their knowledge to get something far better. At least now I don't have a broken string though. Lolo stay cute like me!

These strings are top of the line and they sound great. There are some negative reviews here that I would like to debunk and explain. The first negative review says that the strings seem to be real stretchy and don’t seem to hold a tune and the person is worried with how much he’s had to wind them and wind them that they’re going to snap.So this person is clearly new to playing on nylon strings. All of them stretch way more than traditional strings. When you first put them on, be prepared to have to wind them quite a bit to get them in tune. Once in tune, they’re going to stretch and then you’ll tune and they’ll stretch and it will continue until the string is properly broken in and when it is, you’ll tune to key and it will stay in tune. It’s perfectly normal. The second review I’d like to address says that “these strings are unusable” as they have no knot or loop in them or ball on the end to hold them in place on the bridge🤦🏻‍♂️….I….what? This person really thinks that this company who makes all kinds of strings for all kinds of instruments just forgot to put a way to hold the string in place? Again, this is clearly the first time this person has restrung their Guilele which is fine but to think that you have picked up on some major design flaw enough to leave a bad review, before questioning if maybe you just don’t know what you’re doing yet with your new hobby, is ridiculous! Wtf hahahaha ?!?!YOU MAKE THE LOOP IN THE STRING!! Most of these types of strings will have no knot or loop or ball in them. You do that while you’re stringing them up and there are tons of videos online that show you exactly how to do this very very simple thing. These strings are awesome. Buy them, learn how to install them from a free shirt easy to understand video and enjoy.

Maybe it's just me. But while they're nice strings and installed easily, they seemed to stretch and stretch when tuning them to standard ADGCEa on a Kala guilele. Would not hold tune and I feared they'd break, after reading another review. In EADGBe guitar tuning they're fine, but fairly dark and mellow compared to the previous strings, probably in part because this is not the correct tuning/tension.

These strings were advertised as being good for a guitalele, but in fact they were unusable. There was no knot, loop or other means to secure the strings to the bridge of the guitar, which made it impossible to use them. It's just lucky that I hadn't cut off my old ones before discovering this fact.I was, however, able to return then for a full refund, which I appreciate.

Guitalele strings are hard to find. These ones are not only incredible in terms of sound and money, but they are easy to buy them again.
