I’ve been using aquarium sand for years and this is like muck when it’s wet. Half of it floats away when you rinse it. It’s barely thicker than powder. I’m afraid to even put this in my tank because it will probably destroy the filter.

Standard aquarium sand. Very black and fine but gritty still. Used it to build a cave aquascape

Make sure you clean it well. And alot of it floats and locks up the motor on your hang on back filter system. I have had to take my filter apart several times to clean the sand out. If useing this product also get yourself some sponge pre-filters to put on the intake tube.

This sand is great but super hydrophobic and silty. Plant roots thrive and green just pops. I found that sinking it in a container with a bubble stone full blast to keep it agitated for about 10 hours. Unless you have some powerful filtration don't be adding it to a live tank. The silk will smoke anything with gills.

Used this as a soil cover for my exotic houseplants. Just note that the sand repeals water so if you plan to use it as a soil cover you need to water slowly so it has time to absorb below the surface. That said, it keeps the topsoil nice and dry (to prevent fungus gnats), so it's perfect for what I needed it for.

I lost most of it cleaning it before putting in the tank. I ended up just putting it in and letting my filter sort the floating balls and then just rinsed filter. Looks OK but not a lot of it

Looks great but wish I would have bought 2 bags for my 45 gal, 1 bag definitely doesn't do it.

I just got the sand, so i’m soaking it before use. Upon first contact with water, as other reviewers stated, it will get pillowy and float to the top of whatever it’s in. In addition, the sand came was clumpy. There were what I thought were rocks in it before I realized it was just hardened sand that needed to be broken apart. You should always take care to rinse/treat anything before it goes in your aquarium so i’ll update this in a day or so after it’s had all the time it should have needed to be useable.I’m giving it 4 stars as the packaging was bad. There was a hole in the bag, getting sand all over the box it shipped in, the bag ups shoved it in to keep it from spilling everywhere, and my house upon lifting the bag out of the box. This was frustrating.
