Arrived in reasonable time, as yet not used. A little expensive. Look forward to finding time to use on project.

This is my second parquet table and the first had open grain that was ok but I wanted a more refined look. After two coats I got about 95% of the pores filled, a third quick touch up would have gotten them all but it looked great after two.I rushed the drying time with no bad effects, I did several lacquer coats before application as per my normal sand up.The product sands easily and quickly and reveals what the final appearance will be before finish coat. This is not a crack filler it’s not supposed to be, if you’re buying it to cover mistakes you won’t be happy, but if you know what it’s for I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I saw this product mentioned in a Fine Woodworking video and thought I would give it a try on project I was starting in red oak. Did a great job of filling the pours and resulted in a very smooth finish. I typically finish with a homemade wipe-on concoction of oil and varnish, basically the “Maloof” finish, and the first coat came out very smooth. Super easy to apply, use two applications for best result, wait 45 minutes between applications and sand lightly with 320 grit. It’s ready for the first coat of finish after curing over night. It does seem to slightly tone down the amber glow you normally get with an oil finish applied to untreated wood.

Worked very well to fill mahogany and maple grain for guitar finish. A little bit goes a long way.

Directions do say to apply thin coats, and by that they apparently mean *very* thin coats. If not, it will crack deeply as it dries. This product is not easy to apply uniformly thin. It's naturally very clumpy. Having tried both this and DAP's Premium Wood Filler, I prefer the latter, because it can go on thicker and not crack. Aqua Coat takes a long time to dry and will crack with deep fissures as it dries if it goes on too thick. Maybe it's good if you just have a tiny area to grain fill, but I don't see myself using it again on bigger projects. In retrospect, I think hot drywall mud would have been a better choice, because it sets very quickly, allowing faster layering, and doesn't crack like Aqua Coat does. It's also far less expensive. My environment is presenlty 70%RH and 70F, and even after two hours of dry time, it's still not dry to the touch. The TDS says it will be dry to the touch after 30 minutes at 50%RH 70F.

It’s an amazing product. So easy to use and clean up. With it being higher in solids, it performs better. It is extremely clear. Works as described and fills the grain great. It says it can be tinted; haven’t tried that yet.
