Once installed, but without the serpentine belt on it, I spun it up (with a driver/drill) to prime it and get fluid flowing through it before starting the engine up to spin it.After getting the serpentine belt on it and the front of the truck up on jack stands, working the steering back and forth from stop to stop got the fluid pumping. I wish I had done this even more, but I only did the steering end-to-end a few times. So when I test drove the truck I could feel pulsing in the steering as the pump was working. Over time, though, and over 100 or 200 miles the system finally got out all the air and it's smooth again. It may not be OEM-pump smooth, but it's certainly good enough.The whole reason I had to change the pump, though, was because my power steering cooler rusted (which I'm learning is very common in these) and blew a leak when I was in the middle of nowhere. I had no choice but to drive the truck 100 miles back with no power steering fluid in the original pump. Learn from me, and change out your power steering cooler before it rusts through.

The price was exceptional. The pump and reservoir are very good quality and fit perfectly.I have not started the engine yet as it’s in a project vehicle so I can’t speak to the functionality just yet. I do have good expectations however.

DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE there claims to be a year warranty on this pump after 3 months mine is going bad it whines like a banshee i tried contacting this company for a replacement but they wont answer i guess ill try going thru my credit card to get refunded or replacement

Works perfectly. Amazon said this does not fit my 2005 Silverado but the part number of my old pump was listed in the cross reference .
