I bought the product for backup to a chronic liftgate control board problem with a 2012 Cadillac SRX due to water intrusion - a well known problem of the SRX. The liftgate module failed in February 2025 after a rainstorm.. I took the new aftermarket liftgate module and asked the dealer to install it. The serviceman showed me how the car computer could not communicate with it, but the new GM could. I'm satisfied that this product failed to ever work. Junk.

This part is a plug and play replacement. My original control module was damaged by water intrusion caused by sunroof drains being plugged. If you have the same problem, take the time to remove the hydraulic pump assembly and dry out the foam padding it is encased in. This will prevent problems later.

Had to replace my module that had spent some time under water in the spare wheel compartment of my 2015 Cadillac SRX. I ordered this new module, which arrived next day, and was an easy plugin swap. Worked straight away without any programming. Now to clear the rear roof drains!

We had a 3 gallon water jug tip over and flood the spare tire well on our 2013 SRX - killed the factory module. This fit perfect and functions exactly as it should. Took me 5 minutes to install including climbing through the back seat to open the hatch manually.To address some negative reviews I read:This will not fix your liftgate if this is not the reason your liftgate won’t open… It’s depressing that I have to point that out.I tested every function with the buttons on the liftgate, the button inside the front door and the key fob. All worked as they should. Lock function as well.UPDATE:Lasted less than a month. The good news is that Amazon sent me a new one right away and a label to return the defective one. If this one craps out, I’ll update again and find another source.

Just unplugged old unit and connected this new unit and it worked like a charm with both fob and manual button. Like most folks commenting here, I got water in my spare tire well that shorted out the original module. The water is due to clogged drain tubes in sunroof area that cause rain water to bypass drains and flow into spare tire well. Ended up replacing the original hatch opening module and relocating the new module within the well to a slightly more elevated position. Also drilled two 1/4 inch holes in bottom of spare tire well to allow for drainage. So far, so good.

Plugged in and works like the factory one. Don’t need dealer programming. 2010 SRX. Punched holes in the truck so it never becomes a swimming pool again.

I thought I scored a great replacement part at a great price until the temps here in Ontario dropped below freezing. This component will not work when it’s -2 Celsius or colder. At first I thought the part died, but when temps went back up briefly, it started to work again. Temps go down, part won’t open my lift gate. Don’t waste your money on this unless you live in an area with temperate weather! Run and look elsewhere.

Installed the module-no problem. Worked as it should-no problem. However, it killed my battery completely dead overnight, I investigated and could hear something clicking every few seconds. So I disconnected it and can’t use it. This weekend I plugged it back in temporarily just to get to the spare tire. Now, it unlocks but the lift gate won’t raise by itself. The module also now is burning and has smoke coming out of it. This part is trash. Buyer beware.

After reading some of the reviews, I was a little worried. Worried about the unit smoking when initially powered on. About the driver's door button and the remote not working to open the lift gate. Also my original was labeled 20954189 which I did not see listed. I decided to take the plunge. The part physically matched perfectly. It was easy to replace, but I did remove the fuse before connecting because of other reviews mentioning that. I doubt it was needed, but easy enough to disconnect. I also drilled two small holes in the bottom of the Cadillac so the half inch of water could drain and hopefully not accumulate in the future. Everything worked perfectly, including the door button and the remote. Also boughtDOEATOOW CO-5 Carbon Monoxide CO Detector for Car, and ran a 200 mile round trip that I needed to go on. I did not think the two holes would be a carbon monoxide problem, but wanted to make sure. No levels were detected. Very happy with the results.
